I tried to use a few elements from an Authentic Decals sheet on A-20 Bostons and got caught on them falling apart in water. The sheet is not too old, and I did not have this type of problem with their other sheets. But it has been a while....
So if you have those sheets that are more than a couple of years old do not neglect to seal them with decal film or lacquer before use.
I do not suffer insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Same experience here - I was surprised and disappointed when this happened, because otherwise Authentic seems to be a top-quality, well-researched product, but there you go - you just never know until it's too late!

Yeah my A-20 sheet fell to pieces and I'd bought mine new....not impressed, I think I had the same problem with the Yak-7 sheet as well.

Ed and others, do y'all just airbrush something over the sheet to do this?

I just brush on a couple of light coats of Microscale decal film. Trouble is you then have to cut around the printed decal so while this generally sorts out the shitty printing, it means you'll likely have a wider decal film else one that has a thicker and thus rougher edge than what it need to be.

I just airbrush a thin layer of above mentioned decal film. Works very well...

I purchased the Authentic Decals 'Presentation Spits' #72-55, and was quite annoyed that the sheet was considerably off register. Might be a one-off, but, annoying. When one has to find AM decals to fix purchased AM decals, it becomes easy to remove the manufacturer from your radar.

Either airbrushing or using a large soft brush (like a good quality pastry brush) works fine - I find the latter is easier! . I have used Future routinely but other coatings work fine. If the decals are almost certainly going to crack or dissolve I use Microscale Liquid Decal Film (see edit below) which comes in a spray can. It works really well in my hands.

Regarding the out-of-register AD sheet, I have that one and it's fine. Contact AD with a picture and they will send you another one. I have had good service from them.

Thanks! I didn't know the Micro-Scale product came in a spray can.

I didn't get the name quite right - Testors Decal Bonder Spray, here's an advert for it but it's commonly available (I think).
