OK this is pretty random, but I'm wondering if anyone out there knows of any source (aftermarket...kit...something close that could be whittled into shape...whatever!) for the Piaggio P.1001 propeller that was used on the Macchi C.200 and C.202 (or the slightly wider P.2001 on the C.205). It was a uniquely lovely item, beautifully-shaped blades with a lot of twist at the root (the hard part to mold, I suspect). The props provided with every Macchi kit I know of are not even close, though the Hasegawa 1.48 C.202 kit is pretty decent, for what it's worth. Edited by MDriskill, Mar 16 2018, 04:41 PM.

No idea for the Macchi prop but I'd suggest starting with a white metal (Aeroclub?) prop for reshaping - it would be relatively easy to twist to get the pitch you need. James. |

Thanks James! An excellent idea, and a fresh field in which to search... |

Can you even still find Aeroclub props these days? |

I think aftermarket is the main way to get a hold of their old product line now. Warren |

True, it is difficult. But not impossible - they often pop up on eBay, swap meets, club sales, etc. I suppose some folk who added these to their stash years ago have now acquired resin props and no longer need the white metal ones. It is quite a while since I last visited Roll Models but last time I was there, they still had a reasonable stock of Aeroclub white metal stuff. Come to think of it, I should go through my stash of Aeroclub props and see what I no longer need... |
