I don't have many "grail kits", but I just got my hands on one of them.

I've been after an Aeroclub C-23A Sherpa since at least 2005. On a whim I put Sherpa into an Ebay search, and there it was and only $23 (+ another $23 shipping). $46 isn't a bad price, as I recall retail was $80-100 in 2005. It arrived this morning.

The terror will begin this fall, I've not had much luck working with vacform in the past.

That looks like fun! And all the worst parts of making a vac are obviated by the white metal and the injection bits. Piece a'cake B)

Looks like you've got a fair bit of work ahead, but the basics seem to be there. Some years ago Duncan Aviation in Kalamazoo had a maintenance contract with the Army for their Sherpas. I used to see one or two on the ramp on a regular basis.

Congrats! I was able to score one as well last year, but I think I paid a bit more. Mine's going to be built as the United Commuter civil 330 I once rode. It's a nice kit.

Quick, get it built & almost finished so that Special Hobby or Azur can announce a new tool injection molded kit and we can all have one.

That aside, I have to admit that I never knew Aeroclub did one of these. Good score.

The windscreen is there, but in a bag taped inside the fuselage so not in the photo. That had me concerned when I first opened the box.

I'm waiting until the fall when things slow down so I have fewer distractions. Chucks congratulations / condolences is quite appropriate. For years my ebay searches have been a combination of relief / disappointment. No more excuses...

I'm going to do it as a US Forest Service smokejumper plane. They use one at the Redding, CA jump base so I was able to get a bunch of photos of their plane, inside and out. With SH's CASA, the Sherpa is the only major smoke jumper aircraft without a readily available kit.
