Participation always drops in the summertime. When it gets over 85 all I want to do is crawl into the room with the a/c on the window and read. Airbrushing in the garage when it is warm is pretty miserable.

In fact, this is a pretty accurate depiction of me in any temp over 80 F: :uxb:

Been here the whole time, but don't have much to say at the moment. Finishing up a Williams Brothers Gamma (2A), so that'll get posted soon, but pretty busy with my mom needing a lot of assistance. Has a definite impact on anything resembling leisure time.

I've been lurking regularly but contributing little.

With the monsoon season starting, it is time to try to get a whole lot of jobs done around the house and farm. I usually have a very productive dry season with these things but found myself being a single Dad to two littlies for most of that time, as my wife was away in the capital with her sick Mother. As a result, most of what I would have done during the dry months is still outstanding and I find myself in one of those "so much to do; so little time; where do I start?" zones.

As far as I'm concerned, on top of the family problem I've had, the fact that Photobucket decided to ask for an indecente fee, to allow its use, creates a lot of problem, trying to find an alternative to share pictures. May I suggest the admin to see if there is a way to load directly the pics on the site, as it was for LEMB and now for Luft Research Group?
I will try to send as many as possible pictures of my newest model.
Happy modelling in THE SCALE.

I have WIP boxes covering 14 aircraft, they haven't moved since early April, been traveling around Scotland on the bicycle during May and working on the railroad model instead this month.

Anne and I are in the same spot as David. (hi David, been a while)

I have been slowly and carefully packing up for the move into "our last house." I call it our last house, because we are carefully buying just the right house, one last time. I told her that I am either going to die there, or if she decides to move again, just shoot me. (can you tell I hate packing and then unpacking?)

Besides, almost all of the topics that I am interested in have been talked to death on almost all of the forums online. One can only say Phantom, Skyhawk, Squadrons, Wings and Paint so many times.

For people looking for a Photo Host, there is a free Tapatalk forum option. It lets you post your photos there, and link to them easily on other forum types. Scalemates also has an Album feature,,,again, you can upload there, and post elsewhere.

The next several weeks are going to be busy for me,,,,,,,in addition to the packing,,,,I need to start a new Hangar Deck forum, with a new name, email addy and password,,,,,,,,fresh Tapatalk forums are easy to set up and use, but, the Tapatalk migration from InVision didn't transfer my Admin password, even though it let me be a Moderator and posting member just fine. So, I need to do it all over again from scratch.

I will be at a couple of shows between now and the 2019 local Nats, so maybe I will see in person some of the people that I don't talk with very much online?

Mark, you said a mouthful. During my mother's final six years, I found that the models were almost the only thing that enabled me to "let go" for a couple of hours at a time. But, only when I made myself find that time and to focus. Don't ignore your own mental health; that's an easy trap to fall into.

Summer... Yes. There's a typical drop when outdoor weather hits.
Facebook? A few model pages are okay, but the involvement is pretty limited. I think Roy Sutherland has the best one, but in a way, it's HyperScale all over again.
72nd Scale Aircraft has a presence on FB. I actually am using the folders on the page to store the sprue photos I have taken of various kits. Trying to synchronize between the systems of Invisionfree to Zetaboards to the Google site I was using and PhotoBombit just got silly.
Speaking of forum changes... An email I got recently.

Feel free to play around with the new set-up and send us feedback to support@tapatalk.com

Oh, brother. Oh, and I think the "last 24hr" thing is ludicrous, but that can only be remedied by going Zetaboards Premium.

Tell you guys the truth, it has been a source of worry for me. This forum used to be a lot more fun to run. Now it's like waiting for the next shoe to fall. There has been a lot of personal stuff going on, too, but that's something I don't like to make "excuses" about.

Aw crap, Rob.

I thought that this was only going to happen the us InVision users.

After talking with Scott on MM, I thought the Zetaboard users were going to be "safe from migration."

I guess I saw this just in time,,,,,I was thinking of going to a Zetaboard setup.

Guess I will just go ahead with my new Tapatalk replacement forum idea. (as I said, "Auto-migrate" cut me off of my own forum as an Admin, but let me stay Moderator and Member) Not recognizing me as an Admin won't let me un-pin topics, or create new forum sections.

If you need to vent, just call me after the middle of next week when we get home from NY. I won't be able to help figure out anything, but at least you can talk to someone in the same boat.

I have been confused by this Zetaboard thing ever since I landed here. I've been to their help board and all that, and I guess I'm stupid, because I can't figure out crap about how to run or change much of anything. Invision was pretty close to intuitive. This Zeta thing is more confusing than the coding classes I dropped.

Personally, I'd go back to Invisionfree in a heartbeat.

Mowing (3-4 acres), weedeating, yardwork, and household maintenance, etc. have eaten up all of my spare time, so I haven't been by much, not to mention no time to model. (I belong to a few FB model groups, some are ok, but . . . . )

Sadly, with the exception of the 3-4 months I'm not having to to do this, I don't see it getting better time wise. Considering just selling off the kit stash, decals, etc.

I know that song. :D I'm finally getting serious about some long put off home improvements in addition to the seemingly endless home and yard maintenance.
Our house is 108 years old surrounded by trees. I love old houses and trees but they sure are work to keep up with.

Sorry to hear that. I became the conservator for my mother early this year due to her severe dementia.

Yeah, modeling is uniquely suited for me as an outlet from the craziness. But this is the second barrel of the shotgun. My wife's dad has had troubles for nigh on three years, and while he's now being managed by professionals, there's constant looking over their shoulders---mostly my wife's job, but she needs back-up and support, and that has had a huge impact on leisure time. My mom's episode is much more demanding for me (my wife, being a good sport, is at my side) and this has all mushroomed in the last three months. Oh well, people are living longer, so this is all foreseeable. And the need for sanity protection only increases.

It says beta-testing but if Hyperscale is anything to go by, that's what you will get. I gather that after the initial period of migration chaos (weeks, months?) it works okay but there seems to be a lot of empty space in the page.

Not really - they live about the same time (on average) but die longer.

Tim, that sounds fun. How far south in Southern MD are you? I'm assuming you're the same guy I spoke with on another forum, who was from PAX River NAS?

If you're club meets any further north than that, I would be interested in participating in something that makes modeling social.
We meet monthly (formally but just a bunch of guys yucking it up) every third Thursday at 7pm in Lexington Park. We discuss models guys brought in for show n tell and then about a dozen go to dinner at the Red Robin in California. We have guys come from DC and Fredericksburg, VA.

Off weeks, we meet for our social modeling at various places. Furthest north we go so far is in Charlotte Hall. Furthest south is just south of the base off 235. Just depends who is hosting.

Pm your email to me and I’ll put you on distribution. Next one is 6/30 @ 2pm-?? At the southern end.
