Anybody know of a source for a replacement prop for the Tamiya Corsair kit?

Thanks!

Wasn't aware there was a problem with the Tamiya -1D prop. it's been touted as a replacement for the Eduard Hellcat prop.

Well... the prop in my kit is missing. If the Corsair & Hellcat props were the same, maybe an after-market Hellcat prop will do.

If memory serves (often wishful thinking in my case), the Tamiya -1A has two props, the narrow chord and the wider chord appropriate for the -1D.Of course this only works if you have the -1A in the stash :)

Pretty sure you're right. And if that's the case, then it's probably cheaper to buy a Tamiya -1A than buy an AM prop, since you still can build a complete model. Even better, find someone with a -1A that doesn't need the prop.

A quick visit to the Tamiya website kit description shows you're right. Any Idea what the part number for the -1D suitable prop I should ask for? :hmm:

I don't have a -1A kit, but my -1D kit shows the prop as Part B8.

I recall reading somewhere that some Corsairs had Hellcat props; got one of those?

Had a look at my F4U-1a kit. It is the F4U-1d kit sprues with an additional small sprue holding the -1a unique parts (narrow blade prop, shorter tail wheel assembly etc) and -1a decals. As Mark suggested if you have any interest in Corsairs, getting the F4U-1a kit will supply the missing prop for your -1d and let you build a -1a.
