complaining that you do not use FB so you can't access the AMK facebook stuff

In case you are referring to my post............
Where did I complain?
I said I have a Faecebook account.
I even made the effort to click on the AMK link
I said I couldn't be bothered using Faecebook to read what is probably an advertising page.
That's quite a difference.......

FB has it's positives, I follow a few groups that interest me. But that's it, managing old posts, search old posts and general organizing of photos/topics is a nightmare on FB as it isn't really meant for that, it's too dynamic and real time IMHO.

My kids think your a sad old bastard if your using FB for anything! Fads are always changing, though it seems platforms change more frequently than 10 or 15 years ago.

Just sharing my own Facebook experience and the reason why I am reluctant to use it.

Several years ago, I was trying to track down an artist responsible for some illustrations in one of the Osprey "Men at Arms" booklets. There was a note inside the front cover of the booklet stating that the originals of the artwork were available for sale. The note only gave a "snail mail" address to which I had received no response, so it appeared to be defunct.

Someone suggested I try Facebook to find the artist. It seemed like a good idea so I opened the "sign up" page, entered the basic details and had a message saying that an e-mail had been sent to my address with an activation link.

I didn't activate the account immediately because at the time, there were a lot of media reports of Facebook accounts being hacked and personal details being stolen, etc. I subsequently decided not to bother activating the account at all and never did. But a few weeks later, I began receiving Facebook notifications, "friend requests" and "junk" e-mails from Facebook. It was apparent that Facebook must have activated the account for me against my wishes and without my consent!!!

Coincidentally, I changed internet/e-mail providers not long after that, so the Facebook e-mails died a natural death.

At the risk of sounding like a conspiracy theorist, I cannot help wondering what other surreptitious shenanigans Facebook are up to with (and within) people's accounts. I realise that Facebook is a valuable resource but my own experience has indicated that the company can, and does, operate with less integrity than I would expect from a service provider of that nature.

This why I do not (and will not) use the resource. I know I'm missing out on things but I am OK with that.

True. I remember reading in 2011 or 2012 that a study mentioned that FB would be "dead" in four years in terms of current social media. I was shocked, but you know, it's really true. As Stimpy said, the young folks abandoned it a while back, because all of the grownups in their lives got on it and ruined it for them. It's now populated primarily by old geezers like us. The overwhelming majority of my current and former students no longer hang out there as Stimpy's kids attest.
As to your personal info, don't put it on there. My birthday on there is fake, as is my employment info, address, etc. (I've actually had people PM me and ask me if I really did work at Rick's Cafe' Americaine. B) )

Stimpy, I'm like you, I follow a few things there, but . . . .
