I didn't know this. I hate to say it, the more I read the more I dislike its policies. I spen an hour last evening "unfollowing" and hiding content I don't want to see. Then realized that unless I unfollow Aunt Agatha, I'll still get the 80% of her posts about dinner; but an unfollow means I miss the real pearls which are ancient b&w photos of her aunts and uncles. Sigh. I also tried creating a "page". My objective was to create a separate place for my jeep stuff. No idea if it's doing anything or working as I intended, but the form seemed more focused on a business trying to make money...is FB about socializing or making money? Never mind, I know the answer... Tim |

You must have missed the news footage of Jeff what's-his-name, the FB multi-billionaire founder, at the Vatican yesterday, pledging the support of Facebook members for the Italian earthquake victims. Can canonization be far behind? John |

Go to "create a page", choose "community", put the name of what you'd like to call it (Greenshirt's model page), click through the steps and your done. Then you can invite your modelling buddies to like your page which is away from your family stuff. Or you could create a group and invite your modelling buddies and keep it just between yourselves. If using a smart device you download the Pages app (https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/pages/id361309726?mt=8), you can use that alongside your Facebook app, but use that just for your modelling page. Greenshirt, PM me your Facebook profile, I'll create a page for you, hand over the admin control and your ready to go. |

Honestly, some of the talk on here is like someone convinced monks in cold rooms with quills are the way to go 100 years after Gutenbug got involved. |

I tried creating a page yesterday and it failed. None of the options had any context (why choose community over something else?) so what I did choose was the wrong one. Got a cryptic error saying it wouldn't publish until I did some additional step...but that didn't mean anything to me. I'm sure it's like a blog, or here, or any other app...once you know how, you know how. And it's so obvious any 5 year old can do it. I'll try this route...and PM sent (but no idea how to send a profile, not option to copy a link to it). Tim |

Joke aside, I'm exploring the press because obviously even though my quills work just fine, I want to be better prepared for whatever comes next. Who knows when quills will be passé? And I presume that if I know the press, then when it gets replaced I can more readily transition to the "next big thing" from the press than from quills. Tim |

"You just ain't right, Paul." You mean you don't get a mental image and just let it run for the fun of it? For the love of Groucho, what's wrong with you man!

Thank you, David - I appreciate the support! It doesn't seem to be doing as well as I hoped, but it's not being ignored either. Who knows - maybe it'll make the Future Release list for 2025! John |

John I did the same, but too many other subjects seem to be way out in front. Good luck! Tim |

Ok, Tim now has a modelling page that you can all join to keep your modelling stuff out of your family/friends timelines: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1843664439200627/ Once enough people are in and Tim is happy with the admin controls, I'll unsub myself and away you go. |

Please note that I'm testing this. I'm seeing limitations as I build out my Jeep page, (experiment there before I experiment with you). My initial impressions: - Easily replace my blog sites with similar for FB -- however, I can see a posting getting lost quickly. Unlike my blogs where they seem to be better organized by default (I had to do nothing). I also seem to have much better control over the appearance of the blog posting, but this may be a learning curve. - No "push" per se. In other words, if I want AMK, Eduard, Hannants, et al to post to my site, I have to go out and get them. Conversely, here on the Forum, those sites typically "push" to the site, hence it "pushes" to me automatically (as I'm signed up for anything new). - As noted by Rex and Dave early on in this thread, I can get automatic pushes to me on a forum, but on FB I have to go find it and "pull" -- granted, some new stuff from those pages then auto push to me, but is it to "me" or to my "page"? I want the latter... - Organization -- non-existent. Posts just hit as they hit; granted you can reply to a specific post and that becomes a "thread", but how does that relate to "help I'm building a F3L-6 Airacat" versus "look at my recently completed A-43C!" types of posts? To organize I'd have to create multiple pages, and invite everyone multiple times. As I've poked around FB the last few days, lots of FB pages devoted to modeling. Heck, my local club actually has a page! Still playing with it... Tim |
