Just to wrap this one up, it is a tin wing so I'll be putting that Alley Cat conversion to use. |

If Airfix do choose to do a metal wing Hurricane Mk.I, can I plead for it to include the correct tropical filter. Not the same one as on the Mk.II. Excuse mention, but they have done a Mk.I Trop in 1/48, but the box art is remarkably unconvincing in this respect. The kit may well be better, hopefully. |

Is there a Vokes in the current kit? Not sure it would be required for a rag wing Hurricane, Cliff. AFAIK none served in tropical climes so the Vokes were not fitted I stand to be corrected as Murphy's Law dictates as soon as you make a categorical statement someone will come up with evidence to shoot it down! |

Always happy to give information people don't need, Cliff! Again, I satnd to be corrected, but it looks like the earlier filter differs from the later one, by the shape of the intake. On the latter, the intake projects forward slightly from the leading edge of the upper casing that connects to the fuselage. The intake has a definite straight horizontal upper lip. The older intake's upper lip blends with the leading casing Early Vokes Filter ![]() ![]() Red Roo do a nice looking resin Vokes for not too many pennies. I haven't used one yet so can't say how they fit to any kit. |

I'm far from certain but, as I see it, the earlier one protrudes less from the underside of the cowling. It is also 4in shorter, because the engine is. |
