As I've come to understand it the b, c and e suffix refers to the wing configuration, nothing else. That was certainly the impression the late Edgar Brooks left with me and he was encyclopedic in respect of the Spitfire. Spitfire wings explained Differences between individual machines would probably relate to the batch they were produced in and the factory they came from. I've heard of a warbird operator that claimed panels between machines manufactured in different factories are not interchangeable. peebeep |
