Yes, it did exist and proved to be quite successful against USAAF bomber formations. I found this info in William Greens "Warplanes of the third reich".

Edit: I credited Brett Green as author of "Warplanes of the third reich", which was clearly a mistake.

Brett Green is a remarkable fellow, but he was probably still wearing diapers when "Warplanes of the Third Reich" was published...I bought my copy on a college band road trip in 1973! The author was the redoubtable English author/historian William Green. :D

The WGr. 21 mortar entered service,at about the same time the A-4 was fading from front-line units in western Europe (mid 1943), and is more associated with later Fw 190 variants. So I'm guessing the A-4/R6 was rather rare, but it did exist.

And quite right you are.... Brett Green was the first Green that entered my mind, I am afraid my mind is suffering from wear and tear  .

Ahhh, I remember that old gem. I built it as a teenager when it was first released. Back then I was heavily into Luftwaffe subjects but I have to admit that the Matchbox Fw-190A and the even older Airfix Fw-190D are the only Focke Wulfs (or Focke Wolves) in the 190 family that I have ever built.

I have no idea about accuracy as it didn't matter one iota to me back then, but I recall that it built into a very sturdy little model. I also remember using Esci aftermarket decals on it - probably the fist time I had ever done so.
