Is it just me?

Anyone else seeing this error picture?

Posted Image

Basically it's telling me that anyone on this forum who hasn't paid and upgraded their photobucket accounts can no longer share their photos here or on any 3rd party forum, so doing so is not only pointless it's becoming really infuriating! Please stop it, don't bother adding your images because we, the other members can't see them.

As it clearly states on the Photobucket website

"Photobucket defines 3rd party hosting as the action of embedding an image or photo onto another website. For example, using the <img> tag to embed or display a JPEG image from your Photobucket account on another website such as a forum, auction listing, blog, etc. is definitively 3rd party hosting."

This ain't new, it's been going on for weeks now - guys/galls, it's time for you to change!!!!!

So, how do I go back farther than my last 10 postings? I have already re-posted any PB images with ones from Flickr, but I need to farther back in time to get them all.

Well, I can't get past your last four posts... Not even in Admin settings.

Curiously, the "search" function seems to be working again. There is the joyful possibility you can look up your log-in name and look for all posts with your name followed by "user posted image"...

It seems that our difficulties changing to ZetaBoards may have been precipitated by the acquisition/"partnering" of the board control with another outfit. The board may now be changing to their format sometime. Looks like they will let me "preview" the changes, so I may do that soon. Might be able to make it public to let members see, too.

It's a nightmare isn't it? No doubt it won't be a few years before hosting changes again and more users will find their cloud files unusable. When my hosting MacHighway changed some of their parameters in 2014 a whole wadge of mine went missing never to be found again.

Stimpy, if I had the time I would load all my images to my Flickr account, then re-post in all the forums where I posted them originally. That's several hundred images across four or five forums. It also means digging through the forums and finding all the post threads that have been affected. I don't have that sort of time and in any case I'd rather be doing other things, like building models. What I have been doing is replacing images where I come across them in the normal course of checking out forums. I'm also happy to replace images if anybody wants to look at something specific and alerts me to a specific thread. Otherwise it's a no-go.

There will probably be internet archaeologists finding that damn Photobucket thing in the year 4000.

My comment was to highlight that NEW POSTS are still being added to this forum regardless of the fact their images cannot be displayed, so why post an image?

Past images is another matter all together as you rightly explained very well. To sort out past posts would be a time consuming project to deal with without a doubt. That's understandable and I'm not attacking anyone in that situation. I would do as you suggest take it as I come across them.

I notice with dismay going through some of my bookmarks from other folks builds on Britmodeller (to name one site), that a huge number of images are now gone... it's like someone burnt down the reference library I was using. It's so sad that such material has basically just been cleared off the system by the hosting service.

Going by what you said, that works, so I'm good now. Just when I get all my pictures changed over to Flickr, on here and my other forums, who the Hell knows.

Photobucket can suck it!

Imma gonna take advantage of the blockage and post pics of any old rubbish, but claim that they are the best models I have ever made, some scratchbuilt from zero.

No one will ever know Bwhahahaha!

I hadn't noticed any new posts with blocked images to be honest. I reactivated a Flickr account that had lain dormant since I settled on PB as first choice and whilst it's a bit of a pain removing unnecessary code it offers oodles of storage. Less said about PB, the better.

Same here Stimpy, it's like several years worth of builds, techniques, references, etc. have now disappeared. And people like my students wonder why I'm such a Luddite at times, wanting hard copies of music, reference books, etc.
Frustrating is too weak of a word.

I haven't had a chance to try this myself yet, but apparently there are some work arounds to photobucketgate that will allow one to see posted photos.

It is discussed here
http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/1...hotobucket-fix/

I'm sure this is temporary until photobucket makes changes, but it might help to rescue a few tutorials you might have wanted to grab before this situation occurred.

Some direct links to get extensions for Firefox and Chrome browsers to delete the PB ransom demand and restore the original image:

Firefox extension

Chrome extension

This is a painless exercise, it simply adds an extension to the browser and doesn't alter anything in your account or computer registry. Thanks to rubenandres77 on the RevellAtions forum for the heads up to this fix.
