The contest was held yesterday in the Aircraft Pavilion at Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile. It looks like 1/72 aircraft models were well represented, with 30 out of a total of 187 models entered. That's not bad for a "dying scale". My camera is macro-challenged so I don't have any good pics of the models. The Pavilion is a great site for a model contest, with F-14, F-15, F-16, YF-17 and F-18 fighters on display, along with a P-51, an A-6A and others. The A-12 was rolled outside to make room for the contest. The contest entry fee gives the modeler and his family admission to the USS Alabama and the USS Drum. Proceeds from the contest go to USS Alabama fund. |
