It's a good day to build.

You couldn't prove any sort of "decline" of 1/72 scale at the Dayton IPMS show - The Chosen Scale was clearly dominant for aircraft builds. I don't have official numbers, but I'd guess roughly 300 models total in all categories.

The event was held in the Mason Hall, a very nice building with marble and terrazo interiors, and limestone outside. The show was held in a large meeting hall, with vendors on a mezzanine level above overlooking the show. Photography was a challenge for me, the lighting wasn't optimal for model photography (is it ever at these shows?) Anyway, if you'll forgive my poor efforts at photography, here are the table pics of the splits:

The Civil table had seveal 1/72 entries, but sadly no pic.

Great photos...I wonder how many of those models will show up in Kirtland for the Cleveland show.

Lots of nice stuff there! I'm really impressed with the number and types of large subjects on the tables.

Thanks for correcting the number of entries. That makes the number of 1/72 scale aircraft models pretty impressive - with 50+ total, that's more than a quarter of all entries!

Great pictures, there are a lot there I have in my collection that I plan to build. Mainly the heavies. Any close ups of the KC-135?

This goes to show why 72 is such a great size for aircraft. Look at the how even the largest types aren't clunky and overly large. And to see so many types all positioned next to one another. Awesome!
