It's a good day to build.

IMPS Eddie Richenbacker hosted Blizcon 2012 in Columbus, Ohio this Saturday. Fortunately, the weather was great for the American Midwest in February - sunny and warm enough to leave coats in the truck.

The show was well-attended, they announced 550+ models entered. It seemed each model was better than the last, I did not envy the judges. The vendor area and the show area were packed, fortunately modelers are a patient breed.

I will mention again the on-line entry forms. It was really convenient to be able to fill in the form and print out a neat, type-written copy. It HAS to make judging easier as well. If your club runs a contest, please consider this for your next event. On the down side, duplicating all the splits between "Adult" and "Master" classes makes no sense at all. The "Adult" splits had almost no entries, while in the "Master" categories the models were almost stacked on each other.

A great event overall, and a good day out! Here are the pics:

Time spent modeling is not deducted from your lifespan.

I spent most of my money on beer and women. The rest of it I just wasted.

Thanks for posting Jeff - beautiful and very interesting models. Personal favourites are the Caproni and the incredible Fairey Hendon (?). What is the Hendon based on - a vacu or a complete scratch build?

Contrail did a vac of the Hendon in the Jurassic Age of Modelling. I was always on the lookout for one when they were current but never found one. One of the few models I would have braved a vac for!

Someone is clearly an Anigrand fan at this show. It looks like you had a ton of unusual types; definitely not the cliched row upon row of 109s and Spits. I do love shows like that.

Many thanks for posting the photos.

Thanks Inch, for posting the photos. It's great to peruse a nice variety of models in Our Scale. I don't know why but, I have fondness for all things DeHavilland. I have been a passenger aboard an Otter a couple of times so it would be no surprise which one I favour. Others that caught my eye; Ro.37, Ca.314, Amiot.143, Fairey Hendon, and of course Crazy Don's Bf.109 Jabo.
Photos from shows that I am unable to attend are really appreciated. The next one I will be attending (fingers crossed) is the Seattle Spring Show and I hope to meet a few of my 1/72 cousins there.

Wayne: If those 72 Scale Aircraft buttons come in before 4-7 we should wear them to the IPMS-Seattle Spring Show. There will at least be two of us there!

I believe there has been one announced by Platz as well, no doubt to be reboxed by Italeri (as they did to the RQ-1 and RQ-4). Haven't heard much about it since that first announcement so I'm not sure if it is still on the schedule or not.

If anybody is interested, here is a PhotoBucket folder with lots more pictures from the show, and across all the categories. The 1/350 Nimitz took top honors, and it was well deserved!
