A great model show in Indy today! IPMS Roscoe Turner hosted their annual event. The show is held at the Raymond Park Middle School, one gym is devoted to vendors, another to the show. Turnout was good, 543 models were entered. This was another show where I did not envy the judges, there were many, many great models on display.

There are three things I really like about this show. First, the club puts PVC pipe extensions on the legs of the display tables, which brings the models up to a convenient height for viewing. Second, the school runs an on-site concession stand with sandwiches, chips, and drinks. Fast food but good, so there's no need to leave the show. Third, it's close for me - just an hour's drive.

Great weather, good conversation, great models, and some real bargains to boot. A fun day out!
Enough said, on with the show ...

Time spent modeling is not deducted from your lifespan.

I spent most of my money on beer and women. The rest of it I just wasted.

I liked that Pearl Harbor P-40B set...looked nice. I found 2 there today too with 2 Airfix Zero Type 21's...all I need now is sticker for both :P

Lots of nice stuff there, I'm really impressed with the number of large subjects on the tables! Like the P-26, was that the Revell or Pavla kit?

Lotta nice builds! Yeah, I wouldn't have envied the judges either...

The P-40's were motorized, but the batteries only lasted for the first couple of hours. They got a 1st in the diorama split. The builder was the Grex airbrush vendor (a really nice guy). He had a demo set up, so you could play with a Grex. Whole lot smoother than my Badger 150, might have to break down and get me one.

Mark (Starfighter Decals) brought a stack of Airfix Zeros and P-40s. My LHS guy got in two of the new Tamiya Zeros the day before the show so they were there too. Nice to see those, but the Airfix Swordfish still hasn't made it here yet.

I looked back through the other pics I took, and I don't have any that show the entry form on the P-26. I don't remember the kit manufacturer, the black finish really caught my eye.

Here's a link to more pics from the show, published on CyberModeler: http://www.cybermodeler.com/special/roscoe2012.shtml

Looks like the P-26 was a Revell kit, Russel.

Thanks Jeff, the Airfix Swordfish have been in the US since the week of 2/18. My LHS gets their Airfix stuff from MMD if that helps.

Thanks, Russell! I could likely scare one up if I really tried, the LHS is pretty good at getting stuff - just never came across one "in the wild". I haven't asked him about a Swordfish, but I ordered a Tamiya Zero which arrived Friday. It is spectacular, BTW! I was especially impressed with the mass balances, the flash on some kits is more substantial than they are.

What about the paint on those Italian aircraft? All of them just transfixing.... I especially like the SM-79. A really high standard overall. Many thanks for posting those images.
