The new January Info Eduard issue officially describes a new series of 1/72 Fw 190A's scaled down from their excellent 1/48 Fw 190A's. No more struggling with resin wheel wells, wings, cockpit sets, etc. to accurize the previously released 1/72 Fw 190 A5-A8's. Inch High has taken one for the team with his excellent batch of improved accurate Fw 190A's. Thanks to Inch High's sacrifice, Eduard finally will release newly tooled 1/72 Fw 190 A's. Lets hope Inch High's improved and corrected Fw 190 D's will motivate Eduard to release newly tooled Fw 190 D's.
Eduard does not seem interested in the short nose Fw 190 A 0 to A 4, but we do have good representations from AZ and Tamiya. I still have not given up hope of seeing a good new 1/72 Do 217 yet.

If they're scaled down from the 48th ones, I'll be having none of them. If they try to make them look right and build better than the 48th ones, I might consider trying one.

I figure this will take the same path as the Bf 110, where a problematic series of kits in 1/48 led to some superlative 1/72 kits. And if not, I've got more FW 190s from Tamiya and Hasegawa than I will probably build anyway.

It's a good day to build.

Yep, it's all because of me. ;) You're welcome.

Seriously, I'm looking forward to these. Hasegawa does not make an A-5 regardless of what they put on the box. Anxious to see how these turn out. It's good to see Eduard is planning increased production in our scale.

Time spent modeling is not deducted from your lifespan.

I spent most of my money on beer and women. The rest of it I just wasted.

I suspect this will go like every other kit release. Those who love the marque will accept whatever is offered unquestioned. Those who don't will see flaws if such are present. Those who don't like the marque will accept nothing less than perfection. And there will be more complaining about the price. There will be some who'll just take whatever is offered and build it. Whatever works for you.

Based on Eduard's recent releases, I look forward to their Wurger, but more so the announced Migs and Avia. Without any editorial comment and I don't care if the quality is supreme, I'll avoid the announced Spitfires. But Mig-21s to the same standard as their 48th kits and a Midget? Oh, boy does that get me going.

I'm just jubilant Eduard didn't announce a Halifax. There is just too much heavy breathing here for that subject and way, way too much complaining when kits of this subject don't meet expectation.
Life is too short for poor kits.

Seeing as both HR and RS do the Avias - and they're not bad kits - there are plenty to choose from.

Yep, even if what works is that it doesn't work B)

But thanks, I didn't notice they were doing Spitfires!

I'm not at all sure I care about any of these, including the Spits, just because I've already got so much of everything WWII (including two Avias). Oh, I suppose I could go into paroxysms of inadequacy over Inch High's comment on the deficiency of the Hasegawa FW 190A-5, but I think I spent all of about $2 for the kit I have, and I don't know that I'll ever build it, so replacing it with a (possibly) better Eduard kit at significant cost sounds a bit odd.

That's the reason 1/48 exists - it serves as a prototype/trial run for The Scale That Really Matters.

Hyperscale has test-shots of the Avia. Overall it looks nice but in my opinion they messed the wings up again, just like their 1/48 SSW. Rib tapes too pronounced with molded-on stitching. To me it doesn't look "too scale".
