RS recently annouced a new short nose Ki 61 I Hei at http://rsmodels.cz/en/modely-letadel/plast...180/ki-61-i-hei
Previously Ki 61 has released the entire Ki 61/ Ki 100 family except the short nose Ki 61 although it took 2 years to finally get around to releasing the short nose version. Armed with the recent Kagero book one could build a consistent and accurate complete Ki 61/ Ki 100 series. Hey RS, how about the Bloch 155 to complete the Bloch fighter series they started?

The complete series except for the experimental Ki 61-II, with its new wing. What they do sell is the Ki-61-II-Kai. I don't think I've even seen drawings of the revised wing.

Hey RS, how about the Bloch 155 to complete the Bloch fighter series they started?

I also thought about that, but apparently RS is not considering the MB.155, at least not in the near future. Nevertheless, I would happily welcome a new MB.155 to replace the old Azur kit. The extraordinary MB.157 prototype is an interesting proposition too, but being a one off experimental type, I think it is even less likely to attract the attention of Mr. Robert Schneider...

For my part, I was happy enough to get a new MB 152. And I'll just have to struggle on with the Azur MB 155.

Commenting about no one but myself, there is very much a problem of eyes and stomachs here. Frex, if you count the Ki. 60 and Ki. 64 (as part of an extended family), I've got five Kawasaki fighters. I've yet to even seriously consider building one. Do I really need a sixth? For that matter, while there might be a very real incremental advantage to buying an RS MB 155 (were that even to exist), do I care to build that subject?

I can get pretty finicky about prototype fidelity when I put my mind to it, but my experience withe the KP/AZ P-51B discussion has highlighted for me the very real issue of diminishing returns, coupled with the notion that the perfect is the enemy of the good when I have already purchased the good. Because the unstated kernel of truth at the center of all this is that the 'perfect' is not, and will be superseded down the road.

Meanwhile, I build Airfix and Hasegawa and Tamiya kits to completion quickly, while the limited-run kits do get finished, but take much longer. So, another RS (or Azur or Valom or AZ?) Oh, most likely, but probably not an MB 155 nor another KI. 61.
