Only found out about this kit in the last few days.

Never heard of the company before. They are from Russia and the 1:72 L-39 seems to be their only kit so far.

So is that a comparo with the Eduard mouldings in the pics? Is there something wrong with the Eduard that warrants another pretty nice kit?

:D, Hi Ryan, South Front did produce some other kits years ago like the Mil Mi-26 in the one true scale. There were a couple of others but I can't remember what they were now. I think one may have been a Su-25 from memory.

Regards,
RHB.

Looks like a copy of Eduard kit. Sadly both kits have canopy wrong, they are not blown as real canopy is and for me that's quite big error. Both have canopy correctly illustrated on box top which make error even more odd.

most of the 1/72 jets have that type of canopy wrong. IIRC even the new Zvezda Su 27. I'll have to check my Tamiya F-16CJ again and see how that one looks. Tough for them to get the proper "horse shoe" shape for the canopies.

The two kits I ordered from Hannants in the UK arrived today.

Took a few quick pics of box etc.

Thanks for sharing those pics, Ryan. I was wondering how the kit looked after your first post. I bought a South Front Mi-26 many years ago when it was the only kid on the block for that aircraft and while it is reasonably good, it lacks the finesse of the majority of today's model kits.

While I cannot see the kit sprues in any close up clarity in your pic, the L-39 seems to be quite nicely done. I am not really into jets, but I have always liked the L-39. I already have the Eduard kit in the stash (destined to be a Royal Thai Air Force example) so I am very unlikely to be tempted by the South Front kit. But thanks for sharing anyway!

Cheers, James.
