Holy Spruegates Batman!!

Just got this kit, very delicate molding and finest (smallest) spruegates I have ever seen. Gawd, I wish the new generation of Airfix kits had gates like these, hell I wish all the injection molded kits were like this!

If this is what we can expect with the forthcoming Spitfires and Fw 190s, I am in for a case of each

That's my thoughts regarding their MiG-21.....

Wait! Did they announce a 1/72nd MiG-21?

OTOH, I'm tempted by one of those Avia kits, and I don't even care about Czech a/c.

I picked up two of the B.534's the other day. Agree with the OP review, very nice and intricate details. I am on the hunt for the Royal Class edition of this now. Taking a closer look at the clear canopy sprue, it became clear there will be a family of kits coming down the road as there are several canopies for other variants including the later development bubble canopy and earlier versions with open cockpit. The Royal Class Quattro Combo edition has four kits and the parts to build all four as any of a variety of variants.

Personally, for what you pay I think you get a great deal with the current run of Eduard aircraft kits. Bang for the buck so to speak.

Wish certain other manufacturers would catch on to this trend.

It's a good day to build.

Sprue shots here: http://www.hyperscale.com/2015/reviews/kit...previewbg_1.htm

It sure looks impressive. Not a lot of rigging for a biplane either. Looks like one of those kits that would be a fun build even if the subject didn't get you excited.

If Eduard brings these to the Nats at a reasonable price it would be hard to pass them up.

Time spent modeling is not deducted from your lifespan.

I spent most of my money on beer and women. The rest of it I just wasted.

When I ordered my Weekend Edition from Sprue Bros last week, they had the Royal Class version in stock. I was tempted but decided I could probably build 1, but not too sure about 4 of them. I think there around 20 different marking options in the Royal Class too.

They had Overtrees, and I think re-release them next month, July.

Some of those have already shown up built on European forums, and they look pretty amazing:

It's interesting that the B.534 took so long to appear in 1/72; of course Eduard did a lovely series of 1/48 kits several years back. I've seen the kit criticized for the wing ribbing coming across as a little heavy-handed under paint...which I have to say, strikes me as rather reaching for something to criticize! :)

I agree on the value represented by these kits, Eduard's "Dual Combo" packaging in particular seems like a bargain even at full MSRP. I hope a version of the B.534 packaged thusly will wend its way here.

Not true! The first, of course, was the ages-old KP kit. However, in recent years RS Models was first out of the gate with multiple versions. About a year later HR Model released their take on the B.534.

Granted, Eduard will probably be the easier one to assemble, but all of them look great

Thanks Mark--you are correct of course! My post was poorly written, I meant to say "...so long to appear FROM EDUARD in 1/72," in light of their previous superb 1/48 kits.

I've had a couple of those classic KP B.534's in the stash for nigh on 35 years, courtesy of a friend with a Czech pen pal in pre-glasnost, pre-internet days!

Going off on a tangent...but what are the RS B.534's like? I've never seen one, but they did a great job covering the different variants, and I have been impressed by the last few RS kits I've picked up.

I have an equally old Il-10 kit likewise stashed somewhere via the same sort of supply chain ;)

NEVER MIND, answered my own question by the simple expedient of clicking on the links very thoughtfully provided in Mr. Bittner's previous post!

Duhhhh, wot can I say...it's been a long week, already. :(

Reasonable price? Heck, the Weekend Editions are 12-15.00 most anywhere. Can't get more reasonable than that. Airfix and Eduard Weekend Editions are about the most reasonable good builds around these days. The Profipacks are actually pretty good value if you want the bells and whistles too. I am really happy with the Avia, and the MIG15 too. Nice molding, go together well and look the part built. Can't wait for the Spitfires, and hope they do an F-86 family, A through F at least.
