For all comments generated when the kit came, I certainly don't recall the prop/spinner getting any flak. Of course the Defiant isn't very high on my list of 'must builds' so I am just happy the new kit is a vast improvement over the original (which I think I have in a box somewhere).

As much as I like some of Quickboost's products, some of them baffle me. Often they are just copies of the kit parts with maybe a tiny "tweak" (which I can often do myself in a few minutes with an X-acto knife, file or pin vise.) For example they make replacement landing gear doors and props for the Tamiya P-47, which is about as close to a perfect kit as you could ask for. Meanwhile they ignore parts that seriously need correcting. They've got several sets for the Minicraft B-24s, but ignore the kit's most glaring problem: the undersized and misshapen engine cowls. Of course, the Hasegawa Liberators have rendered the Minicraft kits functionally obsolete now..in everything except price of course (you can still get three Minicraft B-24s for the price of one Hasegawa.)

I do really like QB's gun barrels and exhaust sets. Their radial engines are nice, but you have to add the pushrods, and they seem to take a "one size fits all approach," offering the same basic engine for multiple types, ignoring individual differences.

One set that I really comment them for is their replacement engine nacelle kit for the Academy P-38, which is a beautiful kit save for the grossly oversized chin intakes. That's one of the few time where it appears they actually sculpted new masters from scratch rather than simply "tweaking" the original kit parts.

I haven't heard anything about the Defiant's prop. I think the only possible inaccuracy I've heard mentioned is that maybe the kit wheels are a bit undersized. The Defiant and Do-17Z are on my "must get" list for next week's IPMS Nationals. Unfortuately it doesn't look like the new Revell Halifax will be out yet..oh well, it's not like I don't have another few hundred kits to keep me busy in the meantime...

Barracuda has already put replacement wheels for the Defiant kit on the market. I don't have the kit yet, but I do have the wheels :D

There seems to be a subset of modelbuilders (and kit manufacturers, too) who believe that resin is superior to styrene in some way, regardless of whether one part differs from the other or not. Of course, I've never stumbled into that trap (just don't peek into my "accessories" drawer... ).

Oh I've fallen into the "Ooo, Shiny!" aftermarket trap myself a time or two. The most egregious example was when I bought two photoetch sets totalling over $40.00 for a five-dollar kit, the old PZL-37 Los. The kicker is, I've decided not to even use the PE (I also spent ten bucks on a set of aftermarket decals, but those I'll actually use!)
