One of Hasegawa's new reveals for the Tokyo show is going to be a new tool H8K2 Emily kit.

Outstanding! ^_^ A new tool Emily has been on my want list ever since reading the Aero Detail volume. With any luck the Mavis will follow as well.

By Hasegawa...I applaud their effort to renew their range and this is certainly a large subject that needs retooling. ^_^

From the engineering drawings of the kit, it appears they'll put detail in it, unlike the past with 1/72 kits. That at least may keep the a/m necessities to minimum.

Regardless of the quality I'll likely wait to buy it on the secondary market, or on sale. I suspect it may be a very expensive kit if their single engine repops are any bench mark.

I literally just logged on here to ask about this! Someone posted this Hasegawa catalog page in a Facebook eggplane group this morning.

The Emily immediately caught my eye..unfortunately the pic was too low-resolution to tell if they were simply re-popping the 40-something year old rivet monster or not..the inset pics seemed to indicate some features not present on the old kit. I thought maybe they were doing like Italeri and upgrading some older kits with a few new bits. There doesn't appear to be anything on the Hasegawa website about it, although they do mention a "limited edition" re-pop of the old Emily. If this is an all-new tool it is most welcome! Now, could you pretty please give us a new-tool Ki-21 "Sally?" And while you're at it, a new-tool early Betty (G4M1) would be nice too....

Wow! This is awesome news if it's a new tool, and yeah, looking at the prices they charged for their Lancasters and B-24's it'll be pricey.

And what Steve said too, a Ki-21, a G4M1, etc. t'would be extra nice.

If you blow up the picture the ad shows a price of 8,800 Yen. That's about $87.00 US at the current rate. Following their usual mark down that would be about $70.00 from Hobby Link Japan. I'm already saving my Yen.

A higher resolution pdf can be found on their site now.

There will be an accompanying photo-etch set for 2,000yen (or 1,600 yen on HLJ).

^_^ That looks fun. If it's really a new tool, and not the grapefruit-rivet kit I've already got.

Wanted one of these for a long time. For some reason I thought Frog made the Mavis & Emily

Back in the 60s Frog boxed some Hasegawa kits for sale in at least England. I had an Emily in a Frog box years but finally unloaded it.

Great news...sold my old tool kit years ago as the amount of work involved to build it didn't match my desire to have one built in my collection. This one is another story...maybe the Mavis will get the same treatment at some point.

This is great news and quite a bold move by Hasegawa. I am very happy to see this large flying boat being released as a modern kit and will save some money to order it from Japan. Btw, I built the original Hasegawa 'rivet monster' Emily from 1972 around 1990/91, so I am fully sympathetic to Joe's reluctance to upgrade his sample to modern standards... :)
