Nick Millman just put up a short article about the new Emily on his "Aviation of Japan" blog: http://www.aviationofjapan.com/ It includes some notes on the old kit--first released in 1967--and a neat history of its many different boxings over the years, including pictures of FROG and other box art. |

Thanks Graeme, I've always had a fascination with those and the Darwin raids. Anything to do with "early war" in the PTO, and the SWPTO in particular has interested me. Warren |

Also, on Nick Millman's blog, he notes that this new kit will include some nicely sculpted figures. Always a plus with me. Warren |

It's a good day to build.

It's stuck in my head. I keep thinking this would make an excellent display base for the new Emily and how to build it ...![]() |

Jeff Time spent modeling is not deducted from your lifespan. I spent most of my money on beer and women. The rest of it I just wasted.

Wow, that would be big. I don't know though, only one aircraft in display...with a CV deck you can display quite a few in the same space. What about just the stern, with that cradle and support crane? Tim |

Tim Holland I'm a "green shirt" because I work on the carrier's flight deck and maintain US Navy aircraft. Safe sorties are my life so we can be anywhere, anytime -- from the Sea. http://greenshirt-modeler.blogspot.com/

That would be cool too, but if you do that you're almost half way to completing the whole ship. The ship is in a very interesting camo, and there is a remarkably clear picture of the port side showing lots of detail. There's even a site which offers 1/72 scale plans and other references. Length works out to about 5 feet (1,5 meters). It would be a show-stopper if you could pull it off. |

I've got one of those in 1/700, comes with a choice of Emily or Mavis, actually not THAT big, about the size of a large destroyer - 370 feet so a little over 5 feet in our terms. |

The Hasegawa ad says it's a new moulding that includes "supporting parts" as in their 1/32 kits. It also mentions the inclusion of figures -- commander, co-pilot/navigator, wireless operator, front gunner, dorsal turret gunner, tail gunner "and so on". Separately sold photoetched parts fret includes rigging, aerials, ladder "and others". |

Do it Jeff, but do it as a batch build of at least six, that's your usual MO.

I'd be up for a challenge like that! How much are the plans? I just caught the news on this and the first person, besides me, that I thought of was you... I can confirm that Model Shipwrights is saying that this is a New Tool Kit. they also report that there will be a full crew included. Here's the link to their ad: http://www.modelshipwrights.com/modules.ph...medium=facebook I think I need to start saving my pennies, too... I have the original kit that I started on, last year... Note the words; started on. Whoo... Yeah. A new, shake the box kit would be well worth the $70.00 or so that I'm seeing as MSRP because, even in 1/72, the thing's a beast! |

Wagoneer81, aka Chris Eddy. The most hazardous mistake that can be made is to assume that something which is entirely possible cannot happen. It should always be the rule, under all conditions, that all possible circumstances and possibilities be anticipated. -Ens. George Gay
