Plans are here, for 69.99 Euro: http://profilemorskie.home.pl/72_Paper%20plans.htm

Chris, take out a mortgage before you open the link, lots of ships there! Akitsushima plans are about 2/3 of the way down in the left hand column.

I have already ordered the profile book and a set of PDF plans. The PDF plans are only useful to see what is on the paper plans, they are chopped up in a way which makes it impossible to see the whole ship in one view. If I had it to do over again I would order a smaller scale set of paper plans as an insert to the book.

I have also ordered a set of 25mm twin guns which are digitally printed. If those look acceptable then there are some other useful parts available and the possibility of CADding up still more.

Still haven't made a final decision but I'm leaning towards giving it a go. Fun to think through the work in any case.

And the sad thing Jeff is you'll have it done before I can finish a 72nd scale single engine prop straight from the box! :rolleyes:

Zero Hour at Broome a while ago.  Loved that book.

If you liked that one you would enjoy these books from the same publisher

http://www.avonmorebooks.com/?page=3&id=56

http://www.avonmorebooks.com/?page=3&id=78

Anthony Cooper writes with insight and authority and challenges many myths

For a more general history of the South Pacific war it's hard to go past the books by Eric Bergerud - Fire in the Sky and Touched with Fire

Professor of History at Lincoln Uni writes excellent unbiased factual books which are also entertaining

Thanks for that post Ed, I'm always interested in learning more about this particular theater of the war in the Pacific.
They're saved for future purchase.

Some news on the Hasegawa Emily. Release has been delayed until February, Hobby Link Japan has these on "Order Stop" as they are waiting to verify they can get enough - must have had robust pre-orders. Hannants is listing them as well, but at twice the price of HLJ.

Here are links to build pictures of test shots from 72nd News:

Hey Jeff;

Water line or full hull? For an "easy" build you could lay this up using layers of foam for the hull and sand it to shape using templates. Cover with either plastic card or Bristol Board. Plastic would be my choice. Build the superstructure from Plastic card. Archer rivets are your friend. Do it Jeff, you know you want to... Your pal, Timmay!

As some of you will have noticed, the Hasegawa Emily is now shown as being in stock at Sprue Bros. Their price is $120. Hannants is still showing theirs as pending, with a USD equivalent of $124. Plus you would have to ship that sizeable box (no idea what that would cost to the US, but I doubt it will be cheap). Of course, the Sprue Bros shipping won't exactly be free, either...
