I think perhaps it was on Britmodeller where this came up as well. If you have any of the AZ Spitfire IX kits including the Joypacks, all the various blisters are included as separate parts - the wing uppers are molded blister free and the builder needs to apply the appropriate blisters in the appropriate locations.

Tim posted the link on BM, saved me having to look it up

The Eduard article p36 has you buy the IXc early and cut out the wide bulge. The cut out the narrow one on the VIII and fill the resultant hole with the part removed from the IXc. Eduard makes it look easy, but ...

IMO using a spare is easier although you need to have one of the AZ kits ;) I know I got a couple of the AZ joypacks when they came out having given up on Eduard doing a 1/72 Spitfire IX

Yep, I'm sure there's more than one way to skin this cat. I just offered up Eduard's version in the spirit of "student choice" being a teacher, etc. ;) :lol:
