I can't be the only one who's stoked about the new A-36A kit from Brengun; has anyone seen good sprue images yet? Possibly on one of the Czech forums? The kit (as it's displayed) appears to include wings and fuselage detail parts for A-36A, P-51, and P-51A versions, although without a bit of reference-diving, I might be messing up the nomenclature there.

Yeah, I'm stoked too. Also Mustang I, Ia and II, plus F-6A. Possibly...if the fuselage is engineered properly for all these variants. It appears the wings are, given 3 different ones. Unfortunately only photos are grainy distance shots at Nuremberg.

This is good. I'd like to do a Mustang I without a lot of hackery.

This is great news...I recently picked up their new Yak -1 kits and was pleasantly surprised how good they are. A good quality A-36/P-51A would be welcomed for sure.

From Modelforum.cz, a couple of images of Brengun's display; maybe once the show is over, more details will be forthcoming:

It appears that Brengun already have alternate wing sprues ready; maybe they'll release several versions simultaneously.

Put me down for half a dozen...

Ohh, I'm liking this! I've had the Condor A-36 in the stash for close to 20 years, but never did anything with it. This one looks much nicer (although it appears they've botched the wheel wells the same way just about everybody else does. ;)

Perhaps you could enlarge on this? The main objection I've had with previous Allison Mustang kits is the representation of the leading edge strake at the wing root. It should have much more camber with the meeting point on the nose lower than that on the wing. It doesn't look as though this kit is going to be better in this respect, but only as far as it is possible to judge from a plan view photograph. Back to bending plastic between the fingers, I suspect.

However, the A-36 does appear to have separate airbrakes, presumably as etched brass.

That's exciting news, and here's hoping it grows to a proper "family" of variants, like Brengun's Typhoon kits. The sprue shots certainly look that way!

It looks like the wings are an A-36, P-51 (no suffix)/Mustang IA, and dare I hope the set to the left is a Mustang I? It will take more prop, carb intake, and radiator options than you see here to pull all those off though...

My only major complaint about the Academy P-51/Mustang IA, is that it's (IMHO) the most obscure variant of the Allison clan. The P-51A/Mustang II, A-36, or my personal favorite the Mustang I, are all more interesting, to me at least, from a historical and modeling perspective.

The boundary to the aft part of the gear bay is formed by the main spar, it does not follow the lines of the door apertures.

Airfix got that right as do some aftermarket sets. Unfortunate, but fixable if that's the worst of it. Is it too late to let them know?

Time spent modeling is not deducted from your lifespan.

I spent most of my money on beer and women. The rest of it I just wasted.

The tooling looks like it's now a done deal. Could be an opportunity for somebody in the aftermarket business to do a resin gear bay.
