Gotta be better than the Mach 2 injection-molded-cheese kit!

I can't tell you how many times I've opened the Mach 2 box, given it some serious thought, then returned it to the stash. Nor can I tell you how many times I've whined and moaned about there being no long-run injected B-45. Valom kits do have their idiosyncracies, like ill-fitting clear bits (ironically, non-clear clear bits is one of the problems with Mach 2 as well) but I think a Valom B-45 will be a much better launching point than a Mach 2 kit.

Good on ye, Valom!

Like to build that, an Il-28 beagle with 4 engines, a successful plane unlike the B-25 which was a bit of a let down. The similarities are striking.

I found the B-45 to be one of Mach 2's better (i.e., more build-able) kits.
Somehow I don't see one from Valom being so much better as to get exercised about it.
Your mileage may differ :)

I only have a vac B-45 kit, still languishing away in a box of kits, probably in my garage. This one could tempt me ...

The B-45 has been on my wish list forever. It was just yesterday I was holding my almost completed Mach 2 product. I remember the extreme difficulty in its construction. A while ago I asked the at person at Valom of the possibility of producing a B-45. His response was most promising. THANKS Valom You're number 1 !!!!!!

Hopefully they're planning an RB variant and I dearly hope they don't manage to muck something up like they did the fuselage of their B-26.

I had the Mach 2 kit and sold it. Just couldn't climb that mountain.

I have to think this will be better. (From my keyboard to the modeling gods' ears.)

The RB's were all C models with tip tanks and an air refueling receptacle.
If the initial release is indeed an A as the box art indicates, no (accurate) recon variant will come of it.

Now, an RB-45C with RAF markings would be a nice follow-on ...

Molded correctly, they should be able to do multiple variants pretty easily. They would be smart to.

Mostly, Valom does multiple variants when they exist. IIRC, the RB-45C was the only variant to see combat in Korea, so it'd be a little odd to skip that.

Yes indeed on both counts. Mach 2 provides the tip tanks for the C; IIRC they simply slipped on over the wingtips with no need for any plastic surgery. Of course, you need the solid nose as well.
That three RB-45Cs went to Korea (of which one was shot down over the Yalu and the fact not admitted for about 50 years) is the only reason I was able to build one. My criteria are rather anal

I now know which one I want to do. Was thinking of doing the RAF one but the single loss in Korea is it. Question will be, do I buy the B-45A in expectation of a conversion, or wait and hope for the RB-45C?
