I have 2 new sheets for the 72nd modeler. One for the Old Monogram P-6E and one for the new Revell F4U-4.

72-151 covers the 17th PS "Snow Owls" and the various insignia I have photos of. Sheet has 3 marking choices.
72-151 P-6E Snow Owls

72-152 has quite a story behind it. I was asked to do a custom sheet for a Naval Academy Museum Project. This set is a byproduct of that project. From my web site:

Quote:

December 4, 1950, aircraft from VF-32 was providing air support for the US Marines by the Chosin Reservoir. Ens. Jessie Brown crash landed due to ground fire. With the SAR Helicpter 15 min. away, Lt. J.G. Thomas Hunder Jr, landed his Corsair by Ens. Browns' downed aircraft and attempted to remove him from the plane and prevent his capture. Despite his attempts and the crew of the SAR Helicopter, Ens. Brown did not survive. For his efforts, Lt. Hunder was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor and Ens. Brown was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Ens. Brown was the first USN Officer to loose his life in the Korean Conflict.

I should have the SBC-3 conversions and R-1530 engines again by the end of the week. I'll have more 1/72 USN Engines for between the wars aircraft by early next month

Just the smallest of corrections. I hope this does not come across as persnickety or pedantic, but I wish to properly honor these men.

The pilot who attempted the rescue was Tom HuDNer.

The audiobook of "Devotion" about ENS Brown and LTJG Hudner was my companion on the way to the 2016 Nats in Columbia.

Thank you for the proof reading. I really need someone to do this for me.!

I will post when I get a chance. I'll bet the Decal Reviews will have them up before me. I'm just hammered right now between custom sheets, Vending at shows, and Daughter's School schedule.

Nice to see you get back to the pre-war stuff. I will definitely be picking up the P-6 sheet.

The Corsair set is one of the more interesting options I've seen, and always nice to see the Korean War get some attention.

Any love for the recon Panthers in Korea? Like F9F-2P, -5P? I think these types really deserve a nice Starfighter Decals set, with all the mission markings and squadron badges.
Few years ago it was in the plans, as I remember. Maybe You can add some Banshee markings too... ;)
Cheers,
Peter

You have some info you can share? I found one or two F9F-2Ps that I can use. No kit exists of the F9F-5 or -5P.

If you can get Airfix to re-issue the F2H (early version and I think had the photo recon parts?) I'm game on those.

Matchbox's F9F-5 has shown up in Revell boxes. They're on eBay from time to time.

I believe Airwaves once had the -5P nose in resin.

Mark, two things! Going to be in Gastonia for the Regional. And, second are you planning a resin cockpit for the F4U-4?
