Mark, just throwing this out there.

How about a "Navy Recon sheet"

Put a couple of RF-8 with GA and PP codes on it, with some of the stripes and stars they used.

Then some RF Cougars, RF Banshees, and whatever you can verify for RF Panthers.

I am sure if you leave off the data and warning markings, we can get those from kits or from other decal sheets.

Mix and match this in your head, leave out whatever you think is already covered, etc.

That way, at least one or two of the markings fit available kits or conversions, which might help them sell, and the "weird" guys that want to do rare subjects can do those too. (counting myself as one of the "weird" guys, lol)

(sneak in a pair of white UP, HU, and/or UR in a corner of the sheet, and you would help the "helo angel" guys out a bit, too)

For what its worth, the folks at Fisher say they are eventually going to scale down their RF-8 to 72nd scale.

Now, that is some great news.

An easy to get "Fisher Style" RF-8.

The "easy way" today takes two conversion kits and a base kit,,,,,,,and a lot of time.
yep, one of each USN squadron

So, you've also done the "add Muroc nose to RF-8 conversion kit on a base kit" thing?

Which conversion did you do it with? The Falcon vac or the Ventura "lump thingy"?

Yeah, call it "Fifties Fleet Foto Fighters"! There! You've already sold one to me!

Best title ever!

I don't know too much about F4U-4P's and -5P's but I think they fit in. I really don't know if there's any good archive photo material on them. But they saw extensive use in Korea too.

Falcon. I liked some of their triple conversions.

I should have the SBC-3 conversions and R-1530 engines again by the end of the week. I'll have more 1/72 USN Engines for between the wars aircraft by early next month

NOW we're talkin'! :ph43r: I will look forward to this, Mark! ^_^

Buz P.S., What was it that you were telling me about the RAREPLANE Curtiss SBC-3 fuselage being too short, Mark? I appreciate if you could refresh my memory on what had said. Thanks!

Buz

It's Mis-matched, the fuselage. Which is why I had to make a conversion. Using the Rareplane fuselage as is, it gives you an odd looking cross-section.
