Fokker C.V (injected kit by LF Models); Unexpected and very welcome release

Hi all,

I can't believe this whole Fokker C.V (C.VEs and C.VDs) family completely slipped under my radar. Gosh, the Dutch C.VD variant was released last year... After more than 20 years making resin kits, this is, I believe LF Models first injection short-run kit ever.
http://www.72news.eu/search/label/Fokker%20C.Vd

With the Hawker Hart variants reasonably covered by Avis/Amodel, and now the prolific Fokker C.V, time has come for the the Potez 25 and the Breguet 19 to be represented by modern kits!

I still have somewhere the sole injected kit of a C.V variant I am aware of, by Broplan (Finnish variant), but I guess it will stay there for a long time: http://karopka.ru/community/user/12506/?MODEL=311194

Cheers,

Z.

I could not agree more.

I too was blindsided by this series of kits. Injected kits from LF?

BTW, there is from Broplan also a Danish C.V kit, which I've built. A decent kit, no more and no less, which filled an important space in my collection.

Hi Harold,

Didn't know Broplan did the Danish C.V version! They did some interesting subjects in their limited injected kits' range: one I never managed to get is the Finnish (VL G. 28 "Kukko") Gloster Gamecock II (a russian pal of mine who has it, describes the kit as "adequate" only and a typical "1st generation short-run")... To my knowledge, there's still no good, modern kit of the Gamecock, in either RAF or Ilmavoimat versions, in injected plastic.

Yes, these Fokkers are LF first injected kits and quite good, according to what I just heard from a Czech friend. It was a good move, since they have done many C.V versions in resin before. I am also told they were assisted by Edwin Hoogschagen, an aviation author who published a comprehensive two volume work on the C.V a few years ago.
Given LF proclivity to do Swiss subjects, I guess we'll have a Swiss C.V boxing soon.

Z.

Good one. Glad WWII turned out as it did or I'd have to actually learn German. :D

More seriously, If I can now get an injection MF11 and a new He115, I'd be occupied for the next 10 years model-wise.

If I can now get an injection MF11 ...

Absolutely!

Not happy with the existing He 115 kits?

As mentioned above, I have the Broplan Danish C.V, which has a radial. I'm thinking that I'll need one of the new ones from LF with an inline engine. Maybe Dutch, maybe Swiss ...

The current 115 kits are older and I am just now so spoiled by all the new great stuff we are getting that I've gotten greedy! ^_^

Great news! Will get at least the Finnish ones. Would also like to see the Italian licence built version (= IMAM Romeo RO-1).

And regarding the Gamecock II, have the Broplan kit, and agree completely with Zambudio’s Russian friend. However, it is still a much better starting point than plain plastic card :)

Well, me too! The IMAM Ro-1 had a very colourful career (with equally colourful markings) and I suppose LF Models will eventually do this Italian version of the C.VE.

And then, why not the (admitedly more evolved) Hungarian derivatives, which LF did already did in resin, the Weiss Manfréd WM-16 Budapest http://www.avia-info.hu/kep.php?KeresettSz...15938&Sorszam=1
and the Weiss Manfréd WM-21 Sólyom, the ultimate derivative of the C.V family and arguably the best looking of all: http://s16.postimg.org/vjl5heyf9/q00y.jpg

LF Models close partner, Kora, also did the EKW C.35 in resin, but to consider this aircraft a derivative of the C.VE is quite a stretch (only shared the wings). However, I wouldn't mind to see it in injected kit form...

Petri: still on Broplan's Gamecock II, my friend forwarded some documentation on the type (from a Finnish publication, I think) to a gentleman who produces exquisite 1/72 resin kits (including some interwar biplane types). Let's see what happens...

Thank you for the confirmation. Good news and quite a logical step for LF Models. The Ro-1 was a very important Regia Aeronautica type in the early Thirties. Let's hope LF Models will also consider the later C.Vs, with aerodynamic and structural (eg the undercarriage) improvements: this would include the Swiss C.VE http://www.eusebio.ch/c5c.htm
and Danish radial-engined later C.V (please scroll down for the 1st picture - terrific Danish page): http://www.helgegras.dk/militaerflyver.htm
