This is very, very good news! Sword is somehow specializing in Italian WWII fighters; after the Reggiane series, now we get a (hopefully) proper Centauro! Really great. Evocative boxart too (by Jerry Boucher, I suppose). I don't know if Sword plans to do more versions, but a G.55 Serie O boxing would be also welcome, despite much smaller production numbers (and hence available colour schemes).

What is wrong with the Special Hobby ones?

SH is improving but quite a bit of pick-and-shovel work involved. Sword kits look a little easier to build!

I feel very little excitement, if any, about this offering. Probably its because I already have Special Hobby kit and Flying Machines Silurante version. And, lets say, if I dont have them, I would still prefer Special Hobby offering. At least they come with etched interior pits (seat harness included) and with nicely thin & clear canopy.
I wonder why they did not chose to produce Fiat G.50 kit. G.50 dont have any serious contender, AML offering has disappeared somewhere...
Anyway, if you want to buy Sword G.55, make it chop chop - Sword have nasty habit to take their new kits out of production relatively fast.

You got a point regarding the Fiat G.50 Freccia. The AML kits are hard to find and the company itself seems to have vanished. Still, those kits were less than satisfactory. A new G.50 is much needed in our scale. I guess some Czech maker will do it (maybe even a whole series) sooner or later anyway...

But imho, we need a nice, modern standards' Fiat CR.32 even more! I don't know if Sword is listening, but they could fill that absence quite nicely.

As for the new Sword kit, I haven't ordered it yet, so I cannot comment with first-hand knowledge, but the canopy parts look commendably thin and clear in the manufacturer website.

I'll get one of these to replace my aging SH build. I looks better and I thoroughly enjoyed building the Sword Re 2001/2002 kits. Sure would be nice to have a Fiat G.50 that isn't a chore though. Plenty of making options to keep builders happy for a long time. I agree also about a really good Cr.32 and Cr.42.
