Unless you just want to do the AZ early Spits, I would suggest using Airfix for the Spit I, Ia, II and, with the 3D-Kits parts, the IILR For Seafires, the II, III, and Griffon XV and XVII are available from Sword for less than CMR, at least here. AZ/Admril also do the 46/47 All the Griffon Spitfires are missing from your list - XII (Xtrakit if you can find one), XIV (Fujimi or AZ), XVIII (AZ) 21, 22 (Xtrakit or the soon to be released Airfix) |

Mk IX floatplane, Stream (a.k.a Streem) Mk XII was also done by Aeroteam Someone, IIRC, does a Mk IX two-seater. CMR? Farmtex (Poland) did a Soviet Mk IX UTI years ago; horrid kit, don't bother. |

I noticed the absence of Mk XVI's in the list. The new Sword kits look great. Cheers Michael |

Have you been reading my mind???? It's kinda boring I might add. My Spit history is under way, finished MK I - 19 Sqn, Mk VIII - 417 Sqn, Mk IX early - 402 Sqn, Mk XIV - 402 Sqn, & Mk XIX PS888 Close to finish Mk IILR, Mk II, Mk Va, Mk Vb. This should be interesting.......... |

Sorry for the late response, I should have been more clear when I said Merlin Spitfire History...hence the lack of the later models. |

For Merlin Spits medley don't forget Spitfire XVI and Seafire III, plus a whole family of Merlin-engined PR types. |

The Airfix Mk I/IIa kit can make any Mk I, a IIa, and Va (with decals). As noted, with 3D-Kits you can also make the II LR. If you're willing to drill some holes, fill them with a clear filler (I used white glue) and fill in some gun ports you can make the PR XIII. Since you added the float plane prototypes, any reason not to add K5054? Or the Mk III? In addition to the PR I series, Sword makes the PR IV. You could also add a Tac FR IX (Airfix IX with mods), PR X, and PR XI. Tim |
