I'm considering a build of the Spitfire IX of Danny Boy from the episode of Dr Who where Spitfires were used to destroy the Daleks. They were um, modified, to allow them to operate (cannot say fly) in space! Laser cannons, gravity bubble, etc. all much fun of course. And so far my favorite episode. At any rate, I've only been able to find poor, blurry stills from the episode, but can just see a few details: - Mk IX, appears to be a c wing - "laser" cannons appear a metallic color - no national markings on wings upper/lower or fin flash - DFS, Sky band and spinner, yellow leading edges to wings Serial is not critical, but I'd like to get the fuselage code right as well as location. I believe the pattern of the DFS is non-standard. My plan is to build an Airfix Mk IX out of the box, but painted and marked as Danny Boy. It's a shame Airfix didn't time a fun release with the episode, I'm sure it would have sold well. I don't think there is another SF Spitfire out there, if so I'd like more info. Tim |

Series 5 is currently being re-broadcast on BBC 3, I think the Victory over the Daleks episode should run on Friday 9th November. It will be up on iplayer for a few days so if you post a reminder one of us Brits might be able to download the episode (after we get back from Scale Model World!) and get some screen captures. peebeep |

Duh, modern technology. I'll try that too, although I've not been successful in the past. Thanks, Tim |

Well, an app and a download and I have my answers: JE - J codes Fin flash Roundel on fuselage No markings on wings Standard DFS scheme British flag on fuselage below windscreen quarter windows Cannons moved to outer bays, laser cannons in inner bays Outer .303 leading edge covered in red fabric Gravity bubble generator aft of cockpit I'll rematch the episode a few more times and probably find more details.
