Hi everybody ! I recently purchased a new kit from SPECIAL HOBBY : the Supermarine Seafire 45 I t looks great but I have a question : The instruction sheet tells you to paint the cockpit interior in black (!). Is SPECIAL HOBBY right about that or is it an error and should I use interior green as usual ? Thanks for your future answers. Pierre |

Sounds correct Pierre Am sure someone more knowledgeable will confirm 100% but AFAIK late war/post war RAF interiors were black Which makes me wonder about the Airfix Canadair Sabre which the instructions say is Hu140 gull grey?

This has cropped up elsewhere recently - Britmodeller? - but I wasn't paying full attention so I recommend chasing it up. EDIT. Can't find it, but there is a reference to the museum Mk.17 being black.... Being a Military Aid delivery, I doubt that the Sabres would have been painted to full RAF specs. That doesn't mean that I know they were grey, for I don't, but I wouldn't rule it out in principle. |

All RAF Sabres cockpits were black, as were early RCAF Sabres (2s, 3, 4s, and some 5s). Later RCAF Sabres (some 5s and 6s) were grey. Jim |

Many thanks for that Jim I wondered, as Graham said, that they wouldn't be painted to RAF spec, but wasn't sure as they are Canadair Sabres. Will do like the Rolling Stones and Paint it Black. Is this the thread Graham? http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=72888 |

After checking with a friend who built CMR's Seafire 45, he told me that the instruction sheet advises to paint the interior in black . Besides, Sea Furies and Sea Hornets interiors were black, too....so thank you very much for your answers and I will start, on this rainy sunday, the interior of my Seafire ! Pierre. |
