I have trouble understanding why there have been at least two vac kits and three injection-molded kits of the primitive, short-lived FJ-1 Fury, and yet only one vac conversion and a crude resin kit of the more successful, more plentiful, and more colorful FJ-3. Somebody 'splain it to me! Anyway, this is one of only two models in my collection that was not built by me. A buddy, Al Jones, wanted one of these and he had assembled the 1/72 scale limited-edition Pegasus kits. But when a 1/48 kit was on the horizon, he passed this to me to finish. I used a rare Ventura decal for the NAS Oakland reserve unit, and tip tanks from an unused RAREplanes vac kit.
