This one was made for a friend of the family who's son flew this aircraft during his career as a Navy pilot. There were no decals available for this unit, so I printed the black portions of the tail design on white decal paper and cut it out to include the white teeth of the cougar. The rest of the markings came from the spares files.

Nice scheme.

I see you have to make you own decals a lot Paul.

When you cut the pattern out of the white decals paper, what do you use? A sharp No.11 blade or similar? I assume you print an outline to follow for the white parts?

As I recall, I was working with a scan of a photo of the tail, so I just cut to the image.

I wonder if we will see a newer version of this A/C from another kit manufacturer in the future.

Quoted in the brand new Trumpeter catalogue 2015-2016, a 1/72nd Grumman A-6 Intruder/Prowler family.
- ref. 01640 - A-6A Intruder
- ref. 01641 - A-6E Intruder
- ref. 01642 - A-6E TRAM Intruder
- ref. 01643 - EA-6B Prowler

Well, that might be good news, but it's not really news. Trumpeter has been listing new 1/72 Intruders for years now. Still waiting.
