Your best bet at adding the early Lightning to your 1/72 scale collection is the RS Models series. One thing, though: The nose-gear bay is too tall or the cockpit tub is too deep and they collide preventing the fuselage parts from closing. I ended up chopping off the roof of the gear bay.
