Otto, jannies lamer!; Li'l help needed

Captain Posts: 547 Group: Member Member #96 Joined: July 10, 2008	Well, this afternoon I encountered this otto guy. I played him two times, lost both... I used spain first and lost, since I took a wrong path (FF instead of defensive). The second game I was dutch and I could hold him for 40 mins, then I had to go. He just hasn't enough cojones to leave carolina or Plains at all. And I want VENGEANCE. He builds a TP asap. When he ages, He makes his fb in a lateral of the map (west side of map). Since I Age later, I couldn't take hussars and raid his forward villies... He starts to mass jannies, I get skirms and kill his jannies, 3 minutes after the circle repeats. I tried to raid, but he keeps my eco so crippled that I can't even buy a crap of dog. I got enough for make a little army of skirms, but he attacks me again, I destroy his army, and he destroys mine again. If I send the skirms for destroy his forward, he kills them. And their siege gives nothing. When he ages to fort, he makes some falcs and mixes in with jannies. His deck is made of all res cards of age 2, a pair of military ships in colonial. 5 Huss, 3 spahis, barbary corsair, and manchus in fort. He hasn't got factories. I may try france to do my vengeance, Xbow spam... Or brits... Lbow pwn everything, but I play crap with brits.... I'm talking bout nilla so (sadly) I can't do a 10/10 get gurkas and pwn hus f*kin jannies. GS, I'm with you. I really HATE OTTOS. :angry:

I had a look at the "what counters otto" and yeah, seems that teh best ones are TWC/TAD civs (wahaa), I own TWC but since no one else plays...

Major Posts: 1,154 Group: A414A Member Member #15 Joined: December 17, 2007	rematch him and strategically place ur walls. Spam skirm units, and keep his FB well scouted. When he puts up a foundary you put up a stable. Dont worry about his 3 hussars, just micro them and keep behind ur wall till they dead. On water maps fishboom(not immediatly) and if he fishbooms pwn him with ur better eco. The better ur eco gets the more screwed he gets. Oh and i like to wall in the enemies fb. Like if i see theiur viles i send villes, and wait till they finish the rax. Then I build walls around it. The villes sometimes die but it gives u lots of LOS and it can keep them from rushing u effieciently. I once saw a rec where he managed to wall the entire rax. Efficient rush=fucked.

He likes to take always carolina, he doesn't make fishing neither control the sea. I think that I'll take france, I find france easier for me and more friendly. Also is more agressive that dutch. Germany has the plus of those uhlans, but they're bit turtlers. I'm a bit rusty with france, I don't play them seriously since 3 months. So: 1-Wall up 2-Get eco 3-Spam Xbows 4-Own jannies.

They got better colonial unis, a faster rush, and if they fishboom can keep w/ ur eco. in nilla id go germans and send they 9 xbow shipment. germans are an OP civ, best civ in nilla easily. Also i dont see how ports wouldnt beat this. ^^ I say this because u can turtle well and own it. U ship CM, and place ur city in a triangle. By this, u place a house slightly forward, and put ur tc's on either side. Then u put walls inbetween and BAM, ur hard to rush. Also goons rape hussars) At ur level enemies either over pressure and lose their whole army, or under pressure and let u boom. They usually fuck up so bad its easy to win, and buildings intimidate people alot.

I don't know if to take Germany or dutch again. If I could age faster with germans and I get the 8Xbow 2 uhlan (too bad not 9 in nilla) and wipe out his forward villies I'll have more time. Germans also got good ways for do Xbow spam, but Xbow spam are way slower than jannie rush afaik... What you think, I get germans and go asap to colonial, play 8xbows and take out his forward villies, or get the normal 14ish settler before aging? Ports seem that could beat, but I'd have to practice What worries me more is the versatility he can have, If his rush fails he cand send 700/600 gold and go Fort. So cannon and mercs (tho crappy ones)... Rite the fort intimidated him, he didn't try to touch my base after. HE did 1 time, in an area out of range. The biggest problem is that he gets map, and my hunts and mines, run out quickly. And have to go mills... He keeps fort and towers on base, so investing in hussars wasn't my first priority...

But if he was stupid enough to just spam jannies to my skirms, because if he took some cav he could beat me way easier.. but he didn't. I think abuses will make great work, they're a mini culv also. So cannon will not really be a threat...
