Bah, I've never really been the FPS type. I, personally, am looking forward to Empire: Total War and somehow getting the money for World in Conflict. Although FC2 does look pretty awesome, and the storymode for CoD4 looks intriguing. Plus my brother got Crysis recently and whilst we can't play it yet (damn computers) from the short 20mins or whatever that I HAVE played it's pretty damn awesome

I have the durganov!!!!!!!! (prolly fucked spelling) It's quite OP, though it's only got 30 shots..need more for longer missions. I also have this light machine gun that's really deadly in close range fights, and the Uzi. :D |

buy ammo up you'll have 40 (AS50 orso) my other guns are Msomething grenade launcher and SAW something, clearly the best combo (i tried flamethrower and it sux) altho i'm not sure which of the snipers i like better, this one or dragunov. they started jamming a lot cs i couldn't be arsed anymore to go to a weapon shop every 30 mins and am not doing any more weapon missions, so i bought those reliability ups, they make a nice difference (: |

M-16 and M249 SAW? the SAW is supposed to be very heavy and inaccurate; good for a defensive stand, but crappy for an offensive assault. Which is why it's not an assault rifle. |

no not m16, some small nade launcher. and the saw is much more accurate than that other bigass gun, m60 look alike, so i took saw. but yeah, the accurate assault rifles would replace my sniper, and i can't live without my sniper. |

I use the light machine gun, can't remember what it's calleD... i just fire in very short bursts at their head and hope they die from a headshot...as goodspeed, i can't replace teh sniper.
Although I once found an old (and unreliable) SAW weapon, I used it quite a lot but since it jammed a lot I bought the LMG that I refered to above. Tbh, LMG's are great close combat weapons, you dont need to be that accurate. it's great to have a long range/short range mix. EDIT: it must be the PKM Description: The PK is a 7.62 mm general purpose machine gun designed in the Soviet Union and currently in production in Russia. One feature typical to Soviet machine guns is that the standard model feeds from the right and ejects its rounds via an ejection port on the left side of the weapon, as opposed to the usual right side ejection port seen in most western machine guns. Gotta love soviet hardware  EDIT, woah! Description: The AS50 .50 BMG sniper/anti-materiel rifle is the latest creation of British firearms producer Accuracy International. The rifle was specially developed for the US SOCOM and is in use with the Navy SEALs. The AS50 enables operators to engage targets at very long range with high accuracy using explosive or incendiary ammunition. Gotta get me one of those  |

It's for close range anyways, doesn't need to be accurate...if it really bothers you go get the accuracy upgrade....imo anything to far to be shot at accurately with a LMG needs a sniper. |

Yea, Dragunov, GrenLauncher, and SAW or PKM is the best combo. But if you have a good sniper spot, I like to get the silent Markov and take out the sniper, take his spot and snipe the fuck out of everything. FC2 remains the most interesting FPS I've played so far btw. |

lmao, gs what's up with this?? i've been tossing around the idea of playing far cry 2 again with my new rig (which has a real GPU in it now) for a few days. now you go and bump this thread because you're playing it again. i guess I have no choice, going to have to play this again. For some reason far cry 2 is probably my favorite FPS out of all of those I've played. I've never finished a crysis, only finished FC3 once, but I've played FC 2 multiple times. not sure why this one is so good. looking forward to playing FC 2 again with beefier system. compare an AMD HD 7970 to an AMD HD 3450 and you may just understand how big that gap is. |

Come to think of it, I think I can find a pretty decent answer as to why I liked Far Cry 2 over most other FPS I've played. "Realism". I doubt the guns are modeled to be 100% accurate but they're modeled decently and more importantly, the story is real enough to be plausible, it's anchored in reality. Unlike the other FPS I've played. Open map. I think that being open map is the most important aspect of a single player game. Being able to explore, run away, choose how and where to attack. It allows for a variety of different styles and that's really good for the game. It allows for a more personal approach. One of the reasons I also liked Morrowind, Skyrim and Oblivion. I just love open map games. Oh by the way, I think fast travel should be OBLITERATED from any and all open map games. Far Cry 2 required you to pay to be able to fast travel, that is both huge and fucking great. Fuck fast travel. Use a jeep to go there yourself. Arm yourself with weapons to counter the inevitable enemy patrol. Make sure not to attract attention when taking out enemy patrols. Car chases. Stealth bonuses at night. That's really important. Fuck fast travel. Good graphics. Not only are the graphics pretty damn good, but I was also able to run the game on medium settings at 1024x768 on an HD 3450. That is fucking downright impressive. Any game that isn't an RTS needs to have stunning graphics. Good graphics also helps in the case of RTS which is one of the reasons I like 0 AD. Otherwise, if any of you remember the "dream rts" thread I opened once, I've been having similar musings as to an open-map FPS / Stealth game that I think would be really, really good if I could enslave a hundred coders to work for me. Maybe I'll write something up. Edited by Incog, Jul 13 2014, 12:07 PM.

great minds think alike. actually we've thought alike so often now that this doesn't even surprise me anymore lol and yes the game is so good, it's actually been surprising me. apart from the mediocre story there is really nothing not to like. i love how there are so many ways to do each mission. my friend and i were playing this at the same time, actually waiting for each other to complete missions to start the next and it's crazy how differently we did all the missions. once you have to assassinate a dude in a house and i fought my way in there (mostly using a sniper, god even in close range the snipers in this game are just so insanely fun) and raped the fellow then had to fight my way back out, while my friend who died fighting once looked for a way to snipe the guy from a distance. turns out there was a way. he died countless times trying to get to the spot without getting noticed, but worth it: ![]() ![]() and his escape didn't involve fighting 20 dudes he just sprinted onto a bridge and jumped 50 meters into the water below: ![]() the variety of weapons is also great, and the effort it takes to unlock all of them makes it so rewarding. then there's the great combat with the AI making use of cars and cover really well. that's another thing, the AI in this game is surprisingly good. it's also much more difficult to stealth here unlike in crysis and fc3 where it was unrealistic how easy it was. i also love how much of a difference night or day makes. and perhaps most importantly, it's a challenging game. fc3 really suffered from how easy it was, as did crysis although that only got easy if you really knew how to operate your suit, but here you actually have to be careful. getting noticed in the wrong spot often means death. |

now I'm confused maybe it's because i played the game a lot but I played FC 2 on max difficulty all the time and after a bit it's not too hard to not die, especially with the friend system that keeps you alive. there's a lot of hit and run though. or you can find a nice high spot and just snipe everything to death. maybe i'll vod a FC2 run of mine on max difficulty |

you can die at any random point with those grenade launcher-mounted cars lol, but yeah that's what i mean it's hit and run. you can't just sit somewhere in a forest, wait for them to come at you and kill them 1 by 1, the dudes are sometimes hard to see and suddenly there's a shotgun in your back. the cars add extra difficulty because they can come out of nowhere which makes it a good strategy to shoot a couple of guys, stealth to the other side of town and repeat and it makes it worth it to actually scout around for good sniper spots. if the game was too easy you wouldn't bother doing this. fc3 and crysis both had that issue and were forced to introduce "heavies" which were just normal dudes but with so much armor that it took way too long to kill them. if a game has to do bs like that to add difficulty, it's too easy. |
