Moo. Posts: 5,434 Group: Member Member #130 Joined: October 15, 2008	I know Straits/Knopfler are pretty damn popular over in West Europe, but man does he get little attention for his talents over here. Definitely one of the best guitarists ever. His solos may not be some insane barrage of mayhem but it's all very musical...I like the style of his music too, very much a hybrid of Late-Era British Rock and Blues Rock.

Slow down Posts: 16,297 Group: Animals Member #1 Joined: December 12, 2007	his solos are different from most other guitar solos like the jimi hendrix solos were just sick and insane. they just showed how incredibly fast he was with a guitar, but... idk, they aren't very musical, something is missing. knopfler's solos don't necessarily show great skill with the guitar, but are just epic musically. the one in telegraph road is the single best solo ever. and also, on every street ending, just genius, fucking genius.

Posts: 5,434 Group: Member Member #130 Joined: October 15, 2008	Well Hendrix's (and most guitarists nowadays) solos are about wailing with the guitar and screaming with it, and just creating the most explosive burst of guitar music...that seems to be something he really changed about the rock industry. But that's also kind of why I like Knopfler...he's old school without sounding like he's stuck in the 1950's. He very much exhibits the other side of the skilled part of the spectrum.
