Well I never recall the spread of Islam throughout Africa and the Middle East being the cause of the downfall of the Roman Empire. I thought that was the barbarians from Northern Europe. |

no that article is just an article where the author believed that arabs were the true cause of the dark ages instead of the common knowledge of it being the collapse of Rome. The point of the article is the parts in bold, and even if the arabs didn't do that, other churches/religions or whatever did. I dont know what you consider recover, but in all the history books I've read its been said that the christian culture of that era strictly opposed variety in music and art, and did not like change or many scientifical advancements. The whole dream of the christian culture at that era was to keep man exactly how it was and to blindly follow something that does not exist. You can never say religion doesn't cause wars, because there have been thousands of religions, and thousands of wars because of them. Just because you BELIEVE your religion didn't start anything doesn't mean religion as a whole didn't. I can be convinced thats why I said true about the astronomy thing cause it has good basis, my perception of history is fine because I am 8 and understand most of the history of the dark ages. The things I overlook is the shit about Jesuits which I did not care about so I did not bother to study. |

of course if he mentions jesuits in a debate, I then look it up. I meant that before this debate I didn't research jesuits and crap. Redemption stop being so biased against me just because I dont like religion. It's funny how you guys don't critisize incog when he types something like "I think all religion should be banned" also ultra, it wasn't the arabs that brought downfall of Rome, it was the germanic barbarians so you're right about that, but the article is saying that after the germanic barbarians moved in they didn't change much of roman life for 250 years until the arabs launched their campaign, which is his opinion of how the dark ages started. That's not what I think, but either way it proves a point. |

Do tell me where I said that I'm biased against you because you don't like religion. I'm not biased (and your religious views are irrelevant to my opinion), I just lack any respect for you in debates because you have a piss-poor attitude and your logic is flawed. |

I meant what I said and I said what I meant: an elephant's faithful, one-hundred percent. The point of that being that I think you're an unwavering Republican loyalist. Now hey, you're entitled to your opinions and everything, but I've never seen you make one serious criticism of the Republican Party. If you have, go ahead and link me and I'll take that back. But aside from that...I really don't enjoy being a douche who says "This is how you debate!" but you just seem to have endless conversations with people, never willing to agree to disagree, and then as soon as someone hasn't responded, you act arrogant as if you've just won. There, I said it. So sue me. |

Actually, I despise the Republican Party. I think it betrayed core conservative values and should go back to its conservative roots. I criticize it all the time. That's what we mostly do on conservative blogs; attack the GOP. |

I ask then, for a major criticism of a particular issue involving the GOP. Not just where it's leaning now, but what especially that it's done. |

Okay, how about the fact that they gave us the weakest candidate on the ballot in 2008? McCain was a joke. Or the fact that they utterly destroyed Palin? Or the fact that they betrayed Bush? Or the fact that the Party's infested with RINOs (Republican In Name Only, basically means a leftist Republican)? I mean, I know those aren't exactly things that the GOP has done, but they're still reasons to oppose the Party. Who knows, maybe in 2010 conservatism will make a comeback and I'll be a Republican again. Edited by DragonLegend, Aug 13 2009, 06:58 PM.

how do I have an attitude in my debates, its not like I'm dragon where I dont accept when I'm wrong. Nor is my logic flawed at all. I'm going to pretend I believe you when you say you don't care that I'm athiest and say I dont like religion. |

Sounds like you've got a fundamental issue with the Republican Party. Why remain Republican, then? Granted I still am too, by how I'm registered, but I've got no loyalty to the party itself. They've screwed up royally and the only way to get them back in line is to openly defy them. By ideology I'm libertarian, by the way. I'm only still technically a Republican because I can't be arsed to change my registration. But anyway, what's a particular issue that you've got a problem with for the GOP? Like a war, or the economy, etc. |

When you go socialist, you can't move forward. The lazy cunts hold you back. You have to cut the rope and leave them behind. It's how it works. |

actually, there's different kinds of socialism just as there are different kinds of communism, many Americans fall for American propaganda and think that socialism is bad, but there are kinds of it that work, I can't really describe it but a good example would be like in x-yugoslavia |

I'm no longer a Republican. The 2008 election was the final straw. The GOP is okay when it comes to national security and foreign policy, but when it comes to domestic issues, they're not much better than the Democratic Party. Spending and the economy are my main issues with the GOP. |

Companies need freedom to do whatever they want. If the people don't like the companies then the companies die, and new ones replace them. With the gov in control, everything gets corrupted because you don't need to please the people anymore. |

Honestly, I really don't. As many atheists as there are, and as many antireligious people as there are, there's no reason whatsoever that I should care that you've got your religious opposition. Notice that I don't have a problem with the other atheists at this board. Wonder why that is? Want an example of the flaw in your logic? Go back to the radio discussion and your opposition of allowing Christian music on the radio because of how, in your words:
So I explain that the stations legally have the choice of picking what songs to play because of demand by people to listen to them, which attracts listeners and thus advertisers. It's all about business, not promoting or favoring one religion above another. Unfortunately you didn't really seem to respond to that and continued your point as it was. Attitude problem? Here's an example:
Alternately, if that's not good enough for you, refer to the thread where you became confrontational to me because of how I post at this forum, upon which you attempted to lay down internet rules that don't really exist. Not to mention you threw a fit in that thread. Maybe I'm too polite. But I find that getting all angry doesn't make a discussion anymore productive or civil than it'd be if otherwise. |

Indeed socialism doesn't work in America because of the 'values' you put in things there. And you being arrogant and selfish as well. BECAUSE YOU CANT LET THE MONEY GO. Indeed, you pay VERY small taxes which you can just choose to not pay even. Look at Finland. We pay 14-51%(yes, you didn't misread) taxes, but we have totally free healthcare, schools and stuff. We also get money from the state if we don't have a job or are kicked out. Different bonuses from childbonus to pensions from that 14%. We got top students and listen mainstream to metal music. What more can you ask for? And that all with about 30% of the people voting for different socialist parties. So stfu about things you have no clue of and have never experianced yourself please. You American kids. |

exactly, it works in other countries why can't it work in America? I'll tell you why, because we're afraid of change even though the rofltards voted for a president who promised exactly that, change. redemption the first large quote I didn't care, and then you starting sayin shit about like I wanted your attention or whatever, so I just did it back. I don't start fights, I just end them. Even when I tried to end that your feelings were hurt so you started continuing the discussion. The fuck I care what people think of me, they can laugh all they want, I'll go in front of the president and say "fuckidy fuck fuck", the hell does it matter. besides you talk about my logic whereas I had a very good point in that post. I didn't talk about internet rules, I just talked about common sense and knowing how to use something. Do you take a hammer to drill in a screw? No, so why use a forum to talk to one person. you didn't lose your head, good job, I don't know about you but if someone calls you a dumbass for no reason, I'm going to say shit back. |
