Posts: 21,769 Group: French Member #6 Joined: December 13, 2007	Cav starts (one of France's best things) aren't useful against Japan, I'd advise against HI starts as France as their musks are nothing special and Japs have both stronger HI and very good RI who counter HI quite well. Furthermore you could argue that FF'ing or Semi'ing vs Jap would own them hard, which in some cases will work (musk semi for falcs), but this means you give up the map and allow Japan to shrine boom their asses off, which will result in having to face a very strong economy with above-average units. Then again Skirms do very well vs Japan, as do Falcs, both of which can be massed quickly and effectively in Fortress. It is however perhaps not advisable to give up the map so easily (gs would tell you this better than me, he is one of the top Jap players on ESO atm), and a strong RI/HI start (ie Xbow/Pike) would do very well against Japan, especially if you can outmass him early and give him a very hard time at trying to touch the map, which in the long run is pretty effective. They need the damn map or they die. France has perhaps the best late game in the game, but so does Japan.
