Clever.. but I guess the law in question sucks. They should just allow people to run their businesses if the temperature goes above 50 and have actually reliable weather reports. ![]() 60°C lol though.. and i start whining at about 30. it's not that i'm hot it's that i sweat really easily. :s |

Yeah the temperature here doesn't usually exceed 45 for the Summer. 50 is geographically impossible for this location, I believe. |

That reminds me of a joke... A young kid asks his father, "What is that weird hat you are wearing?" The father says, "Why, it's a 'chechia' because in the desert it protects our heads from the sun." "And what is this type of clothing that you are wearing?" asked the young son. "It's a 'djbellah' because in the desert it is very hot and it protects your body." said the father. The son asked, "And what about these ugly shoes on your feet? His father replied, "These are 'babouches', which keep us from burning our feet when in the desert." "Tell me, Abba?" added the boy. "Yes, my son?" "Why are we living in Dearborn, Michigan and you're still wearing all this crap?" |

The air conditioning bill is priced separately from the electricity bill. But yeah, it's around $70 a month for our apartment, here. |

Civilization is said to have emerged in Mesopotamia, although I suppose that in the verse of one who is educated in history, the inhabitants of the Arabian Peninsula and those of the Tigris and Euphrates are cultures far remote from one and the other. Just saying, though; amongst the very first people who engaged in civilized practices did so in this torrid heat. |

It's called adaptation, sillies. Your body adapts to the climate. |

Yes, that's true, but that's not what I was referring to. For instance, I'm sure most people who live in Minnesota haven't lived there for thousands of years, yet they can probably tolerate the climate better than, say, Floridians. |

I think it's more of a matter of how your mind grows to tolerate a new climate, than it has anything to do with a change of body. |

I don't think it's true. I live in Canada and we still can't stand the cold as much as anyone else. We're not more tolerant of it. We just realize that it's like this all the time so we stop complaining about it because it's nothing new. |

Isn't this pretty much the same as saying "they're used to it"? How much of that is psychological? Imo it's all in your head, but the article says that your internal functions change as well. Is that due to the environment itself directly, or your mind? |

life is grand :)
|
it's all in the wardrobe and taking extra measures to either drink more water when it's hot or coffee when it's cold ![]() I'm not used to standing in the sun for 6-8 hours at a time (skateboarding event)...it's draining but i'm sure the more I did it the easier it would be because u adapt....as long as ur getting enough water. Don't mess with Texas One of my friends who lives he in Minnesota with me wears shorts throughout the winter. One of his 1st cousins does also. My friend is a bigger guy, not fat, but his cousin is quite thin. I don't know how but they don't really feel the cold.

Well idk, I havn't swum in cold water for months; that doesn't mean my body is incapable of resisting the cold - I wouldn't bend over and die of hypothermia the second I step into a frigid shower, although indeed I would contrive to step out of it as quickly as I could. No, it's not the same thing as a climate, but I maintain that it really isn't altogether a factor of bodily change than it is just a matter of sucking it up. |
