CHEERIO!

You know when you're raiding with cav and your cav gets TOUCHED by another cav dude? It slows down right? And you're like FUUUUUUU well that cav is dead. Well, after some thinking and a lot of boring and crude browsing of Aoe3's shit, I managed to get rid of that function. I've edited a few files so that units won't slow down once they're hit by melee attacks.

Why did I do this? I wanted to see how the game played out without this slow function. Obviously raiding and melee cav in general have gotten huge boosts with this. But so has retreating and things like multitasking. This mod spices the game up pretty hard, it might even be game breaking but I need people to actually play it to find out.

I used FP launcher for this mod, meaning that you can play with my mod but you can very easily switch back the normal FP or RE. I've checked and it works, thankfully. You can played rated and online no problem.

Instructions [NOTE, YOU NEED TO HAVE THE FP INSTALLED AND THIS IS FOR TAD]:

1. Download file that I attached.

2. Unzip it.

3. Go to My Documents/My Games/Age of Empires III/Fan Patches and put "FP 1.2.1" there.

4. Copy "slowtactics" and paste it in "My Documents/My Games/Age of Empires III/Fan Patches/AgeSanctuary 1.2/Data" and "My Documents/My Games/Age of Empires III/Fan Patches/TAD 1.03/Data".

5. Run FP launcher and hit FP 1.2.1.

You should be able to run the game and play TAD FP 1.2 on ESO without the slowing down thing. You have to paste the "slowtactics" folder in the Fan Patches folder because .tactics files are in .bar files in Aoe3's files and .bar files aren't touched when the FP launcher does its thing...

Special thanks to Ha_Luke for telling me exactly what I should change and saving me so much time that I probably would have given up trying. Cheers mate.

Yah I posted here first so people actually see it, I'll move it later. x)

Sounds pretty cool, and indeed it would do well to break the game.

it was a bit long to find the right thing to edit but once I did things went smoothly. First I extracted every .tactics file for every unit from all three data.bar files. it's a sort of thing for how a unit acts. i guess

Then I found the magic slow-down line. worked. Gotta change <targetspeedboost>1</targetspeedboost> into <targetspeedboost>0</targetspeedboost>. I tested in scenario editor with explorer and it worked. So I changed that line in every single tactics file in the game using notepad++.

pretty simple ^^

You mean aoeo?
In battle, in the forest, at the precipice in the mountains,
On the dark great sea, in the midst of javelins and arrows,
In sleep, in confusion, in the depths of shame,
The good deeds a man has done before defend him.

Moo.
Someone make a mod that redoes AoK for AOE3's engine.

Alternately, just make a mod that adds Italy/Safavid Persia/Inca into the game.

They still aren't done with that?? I thought they'd finished a while ago.
