because your router doesn't work? you got to the livebox screen right but then there was nothing you could press?

Maybe his router just doesn't support that form of facility. However dreadful, the occasion has been known.

exactly, there's nothing i can do on screen

that's the problem, the router itself works fine (else i wouldn't be on this forum)

indeed they do, normally you do get the username/pw upon typing in 192.168.1.1 into the browser but it doesn't do that for me

Isn't there a log-in option, or a feature that enables you to operate the router as an administrator? I had a previous router where you had to navigate manually to a log-in page before the utilities could be given access.
