Field Marshal Posts: 15,575 Group: Member Member #40 Joined: January 19, 2008	Can someone tell me if it's possible to beat ashigarus? Because I had about 70 [Guard?) lbows, and they lost to what I think were honored ashigarus. I don't remember how many there were, but I was fighting two players at the same time. 50-80 ashigarus, maybe. It's annoying how almost every guy I play with picks Japs and spams ashigarus.

CHEERIO! Posts: 21,769 Group: French Member #6 Joined: December 13, 2007	Use some cannon and your own musks as well, WITH guard longbow. But on RE Ashi are just really, really strong, they're cost effective and have lots of upgrades. :s

Early game, surviving without taking too much economic damage is kind of hard considering how diminished their mass is compared to other civs in Colonial. One needs to know how to play defensively very well, while attempting to squeeze as much out of their eco as possible. And one must outplay his opponent pretty bad. Some match ups are impossible either way vs civs that out-boom Ports, those being Brits and Japs. Not to mention both have very strong musks too. For RE only strictly speaking. On FP Ports are strong from early to late game, are quite versatile and have a very good boom. I'd say they're the second best civ after Brits.

It's annoying how almost every guy I play with picks Japs and spams ashigarus. don't let them get that far. age4 ashigarus with proper upgrades are almost unstoppable by brit because lb can't hit and run. lb beat ashi early game which is when you should be attacking and deciding the game.
