You have a point, they don't intend harm but if you think about it they should be feared. They have the power to ruin your life, and they are humans just like you or me. Some of them have worse ethical codes than the average Joe(the ones you should fear), some may have better ones. The point is they are not demigods. There is no microchip in their brains that makes them totally ethical. The fact that officers have to power to do unethical things and often get away with it is what scares me. Most officers aren't pigs, but there will always be those couple of assholes who don't give a shit about morality, and they are protected to a certain extent in doing so. And while the goal of their job is to protect people, they are more often cleaning up the mess than stopping it, because they can't be everywhere at once. They can't stop the serial killer from murdering someone in their sleep. They can go catch the killer and prevent him from doing it again, but they can't prevent the first murder from happening. Which is why people should protect themselves, because the popo won't always be there to save you. From most of my experiences, most police are spending their time either fighting drugs or dealing with minor traffic violations. They're doing petty little things that aren't super important. I got a ticket about a month ago for turning left at a right only stop sign. The left only signs were not clearly visible, and it was dark out side. He was waiting for me someone to turn left, and pulled me over. We talked and he gave me the ticket and he said that it was a right only sign because during rush hour it would get too congested. The thing is, it was 11:45 at night. It caused no problems, no one was around. I was not driving in a dangerous manner, and I broke a law designed to curtail to convenience instead of safety. Instead of doing something worthwhile, this cop was sitting around at midnight waiting for someone to turn left at a right only sign. Really? A city, where about 25 people die per year from gangbanging, is safe enough that all our police need to protect is traffic signs? There wasn't anything better for him to do? This baffles me. Also, citizens cannot lie to the police, yet the police can lie to citizens all they want. You lie to a police officer and they catch you, you're fucked. They lie to you, it's for the good of the order. I see how in some situations they would have to lie to catch murderers etc, but that's a power that they hold over me which I am not comfortable with. I guess I am a little bit ungrateful of the police. They do risk their lives for a my safety, and many have died in the line of duty. They prevent criminals and gangsters from taking over the world, people who are much more evil and corrupt than them. I just dislike how they work and the powers that they have, and wanted to show other forumers how to avoid bad situations with the police. |

A few things to say. - I agree people shouldn't depend on the police for protection, which is one of the reasons I support gun rights. Plus, the courts have repeatedly said that the police's job is to enforce the law, not protect people. - Cops are just doing their jobs. They don't get to decide what to do or which laws to enforce. Your problem is with the bureaucracy, not individual cops. - Of course there are bad apples in the police, who abuse their powers or are terrible at their jobs. But you made it seem as if you were attacking the police in general, not rogue cops. |

I agree I dislike the system more than the individuals. I don't like the way lying and using subliminal tactics is a normal part of the job, something that most cops do. While they may not be crooked, the tactics they often use are somewhat shady. The fact that that is the standard is what I dislike. |

Ernesto "Che" Guevara he is one of the revolutionary heroes of the Cuban revolution which ousted Batista and the mafia along with him from Cuba. Cuba went from a rich person's paradise to a place Cubans can call home. Also Dragon I said "cuba?" because I want to know your source to back up your statement. Also can I see the source you have for those funny stories about Che? |

Cubans come to Florida in the masses, in any possible way they can. I hardly doubt their "home" is a pleasurable place to live. |

your statement that Cuba has corrupt policemen as do other countries like Syria. And your source for reading the funny stories about Che. and jack, Cubans come to the US probably for better opportunity, but that doesn't mean Cuba isn't better for Cubans than when Batista and the mafia were in power. People come from Canada to the US as well as thousands of different places.. doesn't mean they can't consider their country livable, its simply because the US has a higher standard of living. |

Dragon I have a question. I hardly ever post here anymore but from what i remember you used to basically spam, now it seems all your posts are thought out and relevant. What happened? Although you were quick to insult me, which is rude, your posts are eons different from the Dragon I remembered, and I respect that. |

It's just the lesser of two evils. It's like saying Tom kills 100 people every year but Jim only kills 75 every year so living under Jim is much better. |

Sadly, anything I say will simply spark another days-long discussion, and I don't have time for that, since I'll be leaving soon. If you're truly interested, though, do some research on Che's Bolivian campaign, what he said when he was captured, and how he actually actually killed the people he killed (hint: it wasn't during battle). |

Don't fall for the propaganda. Pre-Castro Cuba was a far better place, one of the top countries in the world in fact. |

you can't even link me to your sources that you seemingly always have? and I watched two 3-5 hour documentaries all about Che and also the cuban revolution, and I have done 2 research papers about him. I have never heard of these "funny stories" except from books written by people who hate Marxists and therefore despise Che and downright lie about him. That is why I'm asking for your sources so I can see if I'm missing out on info. Also about the "propaganda" its funny you would say that because its actually Western propaganda always tries to label Castro, Chavez, Pinera and others as evil people that "ruined" the "prosperity" of their nations. Research the improvements in living conditions for the people, research mob rule in Cuba and Batista's role in all of it, research US economic imperialism in Latin America. You have no idea what you're talking about. The fact that you labeled pro-castro facts as propaganda is something straight out of the garbage spewed on Fox News and their opinion shows. Please get off the internet and read an educational book or watch an educational movie. You can't even compare the economic status of Cuba post-Batista because of the countless trade embargo's the US initiated. After Batista (a bloody dictator connected with organized crime at home and abroad and supported by the US) is ousted the US tries numerous times to invade and assassinate the man responsible for freeing Cuba. If you're saying Cuba is worse off with Castro than Batista you honestly have no idea about Cuba's history.

Unwillingness is not inability, stupid. You're a stranger on the Internet with fringe beliefs. Your useful idiocy (look it up) neither breaks my leg nor picks my pocket, as Jefferson would say, and judging by our former 'debates', it would be futile to attempt to change your views. So why in the world would I even bother? If it were someone I respect asking me for evidence, I would be happy to deliver. But you? Are you kidding? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me six times, shame on me. You're not interested in debate. |

The facts speak for themselves. You've never proven me wrong on anything, while I time after time destroyed your petty arguments with facts. You should be grateful I even take the time to respond to you. Your fringe views have pretty much destroyed whatever credibility you once had.
