However, its only a really small connection they found and the real threat is if you're already susceptible to having schizophrenia like if you had a family history of it. Otherwise, it's just like not eating chocolate because you can get diabetes. Marijuana smokers over the age of 20-something have virtually nothing to worry about besides the short-term impairments. But with those short-term impairments you also have short-term elevations in several areas. Which is what anti-drug advocates always forget to leave out, the benefits of a drug. What they don't realize is that by using fear-mongering and only outlining the negative effects of a drug and how it will ruin your life they actually cause more drug abuse. The reason is because kids will try drugs either way, maybe at smaller numbers due to kids fearing consequences and afore-mentioned scare tactics, but there will always be kids trying them. Once they try the drugs and they feel amazing, and just have an amazing experience in general they think to themselves "wow, what else were they lying about?" and thats how the train wreck starts. Thats when they move on to harder and much more harmful drugs. The truth is that if educators were actually honest about the bad AND good side effects and were honest about how harmful some drugs really AND how harmless some other drugs are, there would be little incentive for kids to try the harder drugs and the myth about marijuana being a "gateway drug" would be dissolved. Among other things, lol.
