I just spent the last few days reading a trilogy which was, imo, as good as anything I've ever read, perhaps better than Harry Potter and all that stuff. I'm talking about the Bartimaeus trilogy. Read it before you die. Really worth it. What's so good about the series is that you feel sympathy, hate, pity and laughter for almost all characters at one point or another. And none of them are one-dimensional tools. Most have absolutely insane faults but for some reason you just want to see how the story plays out. Oh and it's pretty funny at times. read read read |

Some classmates in my school had praised the book at one time, so this certainly isn't the first I've heard of it. I'm too busy enriching my pride and self-esteem to take recommendations from other people at the moment, I'm afraid, so perhaps another time

I just finished The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo at work today. It was pretty good and kept you guessing throughout most of the novel. Now I'm reading A Game of Thrones, because the tv serries rocks B) |

You should read Middlemarch by George Eliot. Great stuff if you're having trouble sleeping. |

if you liked kite runner, a thousand splendid suns isn't as hardcore, but still really good. gaaah tariq <3 extremely loud and incredibly close is an amazing book. a friend gave me their copy to read and to "circulate" to anyone who wants it.. but i want to keep it >__> and my favourite book of all time is still american gods and anything by neil gaiman. also the hitchhiker guide to the galaxy triology (of 5 books) is also really fun to read as loads of stuff reference it. right now i'm reading the secret life of bees which was recommended by the same friend, but it's not really my thing.. i'm also reading catch-22 which is hilarious and eldest because one of my best friends loves it so much his username which he uses for EVERYTHING is from it. other recommendations of mine are white tiger, white teeth, anything by terry pratchet.. i should sort my recommendations into categories but i cba |

Girl With the Dragon Tattoo-this guy tries to solve a 50 year old crime, it's pretty good, Anna told me to read it. I just started A Game of Thrones, haven't you watched the tv series? If you like lotr you'll definitely like this series. The Kite Runner is pretty good, has a lot to do with morals. Some parts are kind of unrealistic though. A Thousand Splendid Suns isn't as good imo (second book by the author) They both have to do with Afghanistan before, during, and after the Soviets invaded. |
