You better read both articles first. Honestly, some people have given the bears some flak and are glad that they've been shot dead. I don't really agree with this.. the bear was just hungry and found some food. It's not the bear's fault that someone ended up being its dinner. No one would care if this was a deer or something and the bear didn't do this out of cruelty but out of need. It's just a bit fucked up that she didn't die immediately. |

I agree, though, that it's rather unjust for the bears to be somehow punished for being overmastered by their own instinct. If the cubs are seen to be eating, then clearly it's not a matter of deliberate aggression. If a forest is inhabited by such forms of animal, then clearly there is a danger to venturing into it; I certainly wouldn't traverse a jungle if I had knowledge of there being jaguars there. People should have the better sense to go in with some form of training or protection, but they choose not to, and when their carelessness gets them injured or killed, it's not they who are blamed; it's the bears. EDIT: The first one is pretty fucked up too, particularly the final paragraph. "Any damages the girl may have sustained, “were as a result of the negligence, carelessness, or conduct of third parties over whom the District Defendants had neither control nor the right to control,” according to the school district response." She was fucking raped, what do you want her to do. Edited by The_Fry_Cook_of_Doom, Aug 19 2011, 08:39 AM.

I've decided to vote with ethics in mind. Hence fucked up situation n°1 is worse than fucked up situation n°2 because n°1 has some absolutely insane injustice in it, and while n°2 is x100 worse in absolute terms, there's nothing morally wrong with it. Kind of a hard call to make though, it depends on what's important to you. Not that I don't think that n°2 is fucked up. And if people are wondering, I'm not talking about the injustice against the bears in n°2. |

ahh, but would you rather be raped and not listened to or get eaten alive by a bear? I honestly think rape and injustice is the lesser of the two evils. Edited by Incog, Aug 19 2011, 09:32 AM.

except there was no evil in the 2nd story? like at all. the bear just saw food and ate it, then people came and killed the bear because it posed a threat to people going to the forest. all perfectly reasonable. the only thing that's fucked up about it is that the girl called her mom 3 times while she was getting killed and while that is definitely fucked up it's in no way comparable to a school completely ignoring a girl that's been raped and letting it happen again. |

I thought it was about which was more fucked up rather then which was more evil. Number 2 therefore is far more fucked up. |

well there's no evil ethically, but what is more painful? rape or getting eaten alive? imagine the mother. i agree there's nothing ethically wrong in the second story but i'd rather be the victim of the first one. |

Srsly if you're walking in siberia bring a fucking gun. But yea people raping some chick in middle school and then she getting punished, that's pretty fucked up. But so is listening to your daughter get eaten alive. Tbh listening to your daughter get eaten alive is probably more fucked up than having your daughter get raped and getting punished. |

Yeah people get raped everyday it's perfectly normal. Hearing your daughter get eaten by a bear is exceptional, however. |

I think the most fucked up thing is ruining the special bond those kids had with their wolf packs. Imagine the kind of intense connection one must have to be accepted into a wild pack of dogs as a human and be deserving of their protection. All those experiences and surviving the trials and tribulations of the harsh Siberian weather only to be snatched away from your family to live with humans. |

Yea that shit happens hundreds of times every day. That's why war should be used with extreme caution. |
