Ok so do y'all have jury duty in your countries? Have you served on one? I think it would be kind of fun as long as it didn't take forever. Btw Pizza Ranch is the best place to eat ever, you could pretty much call it the walmart of restaurants. |

I don't believe either of those are here in the UAE. Funny contrast between this thread and the one I just created, lol. |

lmao friendly staff isnt walmart. I hate going to walmart because its like walking through a warehouse of degenerates. Haha I remember going to the gun section to buy some bullets with my friends and the lady at the counter had a nice big mustache and was fat with gray hair. also jury duty is so stupid because half the time you have people that just want to go home so they bs a verdict and you have people that watch too much csi and don't think there's enough evidence to convict someone when its obvious. |

They used to get everything from the US. Now they import everything from China just because people like buying cheap shit and don't give a damn what happens to industry here. Oh yeah and they're a government-subsidized company. The government actually pays Walmart to open stores, and because they have so much money, they can brutally undercut all their competition till it dies. Sam Walton was a really good businessman and back when he was alive, Walmart was a great store. Then he died and his four vegetable children took over, and now it's such a great representation of what's wrong with business in this country. |

Juries are... interesting. Having a random group of people decide whether someone is guilty sounds moronic, but I guess it's better than allowing the government to have all the power. |

The idea is that the general public determines justice over the proceedings of a court. |

i don't get the jury thing either. the decision is supposed to be made based on a thorough understanding of the law. a jury doesn't have a law degree... |

Yes, as far as I know jurors are selected randomly and have no specific expertise in the law. But this is still the lesser of two evils. This power is too dangerous to leave entirely in the hands of the government. |

Imo you should have the decision to trial by jury or judge, or combat

But the government doesn't have this power. Judges are not part of the government. Judges are selected by a independent organ and are appointed for life. They cannot be fired to secure their independency. We don't have Pizza Ranch either, is it like Pizza Hut? I came back from Rome yesterday so I don't think I can still eat crappy pizzas(altough Pizza Hut is not THAT bad). |

It's easy to get out of jury duty if you live in the 'States. Just respond to the summons that you have prior experiences or background that will interfere with your judgment. Or you can say that you're a racist. |
